Nader made this selection over Mongolian one night before we saw The Expendables. This picture had my favorite judge’s comment on it.
“Nice try.”
Hilarious!
Nader also consider this picture over a bowl of noodles.

5 of 6 selectors have been selected for next year’s Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest. Still room for 1 more, but it has to be a dude. If you are interested in trying you hand at it, let me know.

Willy picked his picture over a hunk of salmon at The Colorado Grill during FNSC.

Willy also thoughtfully considered this photo of Derrick.

The reason I enter photo contests is that enjoy watching other people look at my pictures. I know that is slightly voyeuristic, but I can deal with it. Another reason I enjoy entering the Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest is that I like reading the judges comments on the back. I like to see what pictures they “got” and what pictures they didn’t get. I might review their commentary in an entry at a later date, but it is sufficient to say that like the frog picture Jill selected last year, the judges didn’t “get” this picture.

Looks like Shannon and Angie did find RWPE addictive. They submitted again for last week’s theme FACE. However, submissions were kind of light this week. Perhaps not as many people know people with faces as I would have suspected.
Here are the submissions for FACE:

I’ve been up to the 5th floor penthouse that houses the Random Generator. It was fired up and spit out a good topic for this week:
There are several ways to interpret this theme, so I will be excited to see the submissions!

Happy Birthday to my Mom!

If my goal is to be as cool as my Mom when I get to her age, I have my work cut out for me.

Even though this picture was taken only a couple of weeks ago, it some how feels dated.
Here are a few alternates from the 5/6 Photo Session:

I also took a couple of pictures that are kind of a dry run for a future Personal Photo Project.

Looking forward to taking part 6 of this 6(7) part photo project in the very near future.

I found a few prints tucked away in the box of slides, so I thought I would get them scanned before putting that box of slides away.

Jay had a million questions about the process before he picked (which was a little strange since he had picked in the past), but once he was on the clock he said it was a tough decision because there were “so many good pictures”. But he arrived at his decision fairly quickly and chose the picture below:

It is only a theory, but I think he liked the power lines in the background. He loves it when I have power lines in my pictures.

I think Jason Baier was one of the quickest to choose. He was very assertive when he chose the picture below:

I manipulated this picture with Photoshop quite a bit more than I normally manipulate pictures, but I’m at peace with it.

I’m very excited to announce that there were 3 brand new first time contributors. Shannon Bardole, Angie Dewaard and Geri Derner all contributed photos for the first time ever. Hopefully they will find it addictive and become regular contributors.
Here are this week’s submissions for HOPE:

Looks like Dawn has gotten back on the writing horse! Here is her poetry contribution:
Walls Against Hope
Hope is a diabolical trade
it sets the heart and soul to be played
a chance for broken dreams to be filled
compromising the soul to be killedIf I told you how I felt today
would you take those thoughts and run away
or would you stay to comfort my heart
and give me reason to trust our startThe music sounds different to my soul
there’s part of you that makes me whole
If my heart trusts to reveal that thought
would the fulfillment be all I’ve soughtWalls against hope are in our nature
keep us from rising up in stature
Secret desires, wishes to fill
to let them out is a bitter pill
I’ve been down to the cave where the Random Theme Generator is housed. I answered its riddle and it gave me the theme for this week:
This is another great and easy theme. After all, everybody has a face or at least they know somebody that has a face. I hope to see many contributions next week. Hopefully some new faces as well. (Terrible pun intended.)
