What's Happening at Photography 139?

April 16, 2008

Tonight is the soft "Grand Opening" for the new Photo Galleries. It is a pretty sweet setup. After a person registers, they can leave comments, rate pictures, favorite pictures and see Private Photo Albums. A few Beta Testers poked around the gallery and now it is officially linked to the website.

A few pages have been eliminated. Gone are the Fan Club, Fan Fiction, Employee and Career pages.

A new Snapshots Gallery is also in production. It has been linked to the website, but some features have been disabled.

I've been playing with Google Analytics lately in an attempt to track the amount of people that actually check out this website, where they come from geographically, and where they come from off the web. It has been fairly interesting. I'm hoping to finally get the galleries updated with the Google Analytics. The other exciting news is that I have an e-mail address with a Photography 139 domain name. I'm in the processing of changing all the e-mail addresses on the page from my home e-mail address to my new "professional" e-mail address.

After 3 months finally added some pictures to the galleries. I have devised a plan to update every gallery weekly. Now I just need to implement this new plan. I also changed the Picture of the Week from a dragonfly to a picture of a lighted cross.

I haven't been as active with this website lately. As you can see there hasn't been any real big changes since January 18th. I have finally set up some real background pictures. At this time there is only one image that you can download and use as a background, but that image is in 3 of the most common screen resolutions. The image is also in the format that all future background will have. The bottom of each background with have a strip with the Photography 139 Logo, URL, and copyright information. Now that I have a format that I like, there hopefully will be many more backgrounds for people to download in the near future. I sure wish that I had Photoshop on my work computer. That is just one more reason to get a laptop.

The Photography 139 Website is slowly being changed over to a CSS based website. The first visual clue to this change is that the Nav Bar has been moved from a vertical to a horizontal position. This change will allow for a wider main body for the website. This change will allow for much larger images to be used. This is a plus considering this is a photography website.

Groundbreaking on the "store" is under way. I currently figure that I would need about $160.00 to actually open a real web store. By real I mean a web store where there is next to nothing that I have to do. A place where I can take credit cards and somebody else will do all the work. Any way, the initial $160.00 fundraising drive is currently under way.
