Boone County Postcard Project Vol. 2

I started this Boone County Postcard Project last year and then kind of abandoned it. I’ll need to get on it again now that the weather is getting nicer again.

These photos were taken for the project on June 30th.

  1. These are all amazing, but the top one and the street signs would be my favorite on postcards!

  2. None of these will actually be a stand alone postcard, but they all (theoretically) will be combined into one postcard image.

I just love the Boone County has a street named Unicorn Avenue and a street named Cookie Monster Place.

  3. I’m pretty certain I’ve seen Cookie Monster Place, but am having trouble placing Unicorn Avenue. Story County is pretty boring.

  4. Cookie Monster Place is in Berkley.

Here is a quick less to help you if you ever get lost in Boone County. In Boone County the north-south county roads are alphabetical. Starting with A Avenue in the west and ending with Y Avenue in east. Unicorn Avenue is going to be a north-south road between U Avenue and V Avenue.

But to put it more precisely that intersection is right next to the church in this post. A few miles west of Highway 17 about halfway-ish between Luther and Madrid.

  5. I did not know that! I wonder why we don’t have anything as intuitive and simple here. Although, given the poor city planning that went into Ames’ main roads, it’s really not that hard to imagine that our county is in similar disarray.

  6. Nothing is worse than Fort Dodge with their stupid road naming scheme.
