August 23, 2017

This is really just a handful of the blessings in my life! But I’m already getting this out late, so I’ll cut if off here. I’ll just end with a passage from a Rob Bell NOOMA video that really spoke to me:

“So the verse in First Timothy, it says command those that are rich to not put their hope in wealth… and then it goes on and it continues… and it says, but to put their hope in God who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment.

That phrase, a God that richly provides us with everything. All that we have is a gift.

Food. It is a gift.

Clothes. Gift.

Roof. Gift.

That breath you just took. It’s a gift.

Now there are some that will say: No, you don’t understand. I’ve worked for what I have. I deserve it. It is mine. But like it says in the book of Deuteronomy, Chapter 8: You may say to yourself, my power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me. But remember the Lord your God, because it is God that gives you the ability to produce wealth.”

I thank God for the embarrassment of riches in my life!

  1. I hope you had a Happy Thanksgiving as well, but based on experience, I’ll assume at least 1.5 members of your family were sick.

My weak blessings post this year makes me think I might need to bring back the Selfie Project next year. It makes this post much easier to do.

  2. Happy thanksgiving belated right back at you all, especially to the bearded camera, cats are doing fine, not that you really care, I feed them everyone on way thru, my cousin does on days I’m working or home, they even got week old ham scrapes from turkey day. I have never locked animals in car, I shut Katie my lab in the back of my vehicle all the time, and she loves it, but before I can get in front seat she has always beaten me there to give me greetings from passenger seat…it’s a suburban, relax my dog has thumbs, how else can she open screen doors from inside, I’m truelly blessed, just wished rr would bless me with less work to enjoy everything else.
    Ps
1st wrastling meet tonight for boone at Newton, team contains 21 athletes that will have success in life, some good/working on great upperclassmen, excellent managers, and 13 freshman that I wish success for now and for the future

  3. You are correct! I’ve been sick since we were in Orlando, and my brother is sick. I’ll count him as .5, since I don’t consider him part of my immediate family at this point in time.

I did very much enjoy the selfie project. I definitely only take selfies either with the kids (blessings), Jon (blessing), or doing weird crap (like a Pope selfie – blessing).

Maybe selfies should be a weekly category next year?
