With the Beefcake Pantyhose

You can look at this collection of losers for RED from the WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE in a couple of different ways.

Either I just wanted an excuse more pictures of my dog.

OR

Well that is interesting.

You see, there is a setting on my camera that drops out all other colors but red. It is far from 100%, but it creates interesting images.

TEXTURE

This should be an interesting one. It might be one of the more difficult themes, but I hope that doesn’t scare anybody away. As always, I’ll be excited to see all the submissions.

GENERAL HOUSEKEEPING NOTES

No new subscribers.
No movement on the secret handshake development front.

New Friends

My nephew Brandon recently add a new life into his life and therefore into my family’s life. He drove halfway across the state and picked up Ezra. Last Sunday he brought Ezra over to meet Naima.

It was late and it was dark and so normally I wouldn’t post a photo that is this poor, but it is the best I have to offer to record what was the initial meeting between 2 new friends.

Naima and Ezra

The addition of this new companion reminded me of a video that recently went viral that a man made to help him say goodbye to his dog Denali.

The video ends with a quote from a scientist about what we can learn from dogs. While it has been well established that dogs are superior to humans in about every conceivable way, I had never heard this awesome aspect of dogs put so well. So I looked up the source of the actual quote and it is excellent advice on many levels.

“Everything you do for a dog to help them age well, you should do with them.

So eat the best food you can afford. Go for a walk, even if it’s raining. Take a lot of naps. Keep your teeth clean and your breath fresh, so that the people you lick will not flinch. And when someone you love walks in through the door, even if it happens five times a day, go totally insane with joy.”

The last line being the most poignant and obviously, the part where dogs have us beat. Every day of the week.

Why do I bring this up? Other than because I love dogs. Because it has given me an idea for a video project that I’m going to do with Naima in the near future. Some of you will be warned that you are in it. Some of you will just find out as it goes along.

New Toy

We recently held an auction at the Computer Mine. The one thing in the auction that I really coveted was a blue Canon A4000 IS. I’m not a Canon guy at all. However, I’ve been sans point and shoot for a couple years now and there are times (like mission trips) where a little point and shoot would come in handy. While it isn’t the most powerful camera, I thought if I could get it for $50 bucks (while it retails for $150) I could slum and add a Canon to the arsenal.

I am notoriously tough on point and shoots, so hopefully it will last me a couple years or so.

I thought I would crack it out and document my weekend, to get a feel for it. Below are those pictures.

Monday morning. Back to the grind.

I couldn’t wait for Monday night when I finally got a chance to breathe and have a small bit of free time again.

Insta

Feel like revisiting my Instagram account. It has been a long, long, time.

Obviously, if you follow me on Instagram, like a boss, you’ve already experienced these.

A few of my favorites:

That was fun! We’ll have to do that again sometime!

Wet Pooch

Tuesday night was the annual night where they let people take their dogs to the pool in Boone.

This is the 3rd straight year I’ve taken Naima. For the 3rd straight year, she loved being in the wading pool and any place where her paws could touch the bottom. However, in places where she had to swim, she didn’t like so much.

Naima, home from the pool relaxes after being a big wuss at the pool.

In this photo Naima is resting at home after what I think she considered to be a successful day at the pool.

Wet Squirrel

Last night while I was working in the basement I heard Naima barking up a storm. I went outside to check on her and she was barking at a slightly tipped over garbage can.

I looked down into the garbage can and barely visible in a half inch of black water was a ground squirrel.

Naima was so proud of this accomplishment.

I took the garbage can back to the alley and dumped its inhabitant out.

It sat there for several minutes before deciding to move on with its day.

Phonetos – Vol. 1

Although I haven’t touched the real camera lately, I have sorta documented some stuff with my cruddy camera on my phone. Thought I would post some of those from the last few months. Remember, these are taken with a cruddy camera phone.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve already seen many of these. Feel free to carry on.
