If I were to hazard a guess, I would guess that we heard customers ask at least 10 times if Mike and Frank were there. At least 10 times.
I have now been to both the Antique Archaeology in Nashville and LeClaire. The one in LeClaire is vastly superior.
In my first trip to Bennett (probably my last) I was a bit disappointed with the Bennett sign, but what can you do?
After years and years and years of showing up at this place hankering for some old timey ice cream only to have a “CLOSED” sign laugh in my face, I finally was able to slay 1 of my white whales and enter the Wilton Candy Kitchen. I got to knock down a tasty strawberry ice cream cone. I got to tour their closed museum. I got to meet the 100 year old owners. I got to sit in the same table where Gregory Peck once sat.
But I know you are wondering about the quality of the ice cream, well it was fantastic. Perhaps not any better than The Filling Station in Madrid or Cole’s in Slater, but still, perfectly excellent ice cream.
I guess this is the type of questions that would be answered by one of those inane Miller Fortune beer commercials.
But maybe a few of us could get together, get a truck, and sneak over to Tama in the middle of the night and just seize this sign. With the neon restored, it would make a lovely addition to the Howard yard.
I missed the sweet spot for this rose garden this year.
Jesse didn’t seem to know that this little gem existed. It may have been the highlight of his day.
