A solid week of submissions!

But enough dwelling on the past. Time to look to the future. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! This week’s theme:

WEEK 96 - SAD
SAD!

SAD! What a great theme! I don’t think I need to define SAD. It is an emotional state that almost everybody knows. Especially with the current state of the world. But SAD isn’t only an emotion, it can also be a description of something. Person X’s taste in music is SAD. The fact that they keep making FAST & FURIOUS movies is SAD.

As always, feel free to define the theme as you see fit.

I’m already not SAD anticipating all the different interpretations!

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 RULES DIVISION

1. The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week. I will point out that I have let that slide some in the past. I will not in the future. Since it is literally about the only rule.

2. Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by 11 AM on the Monday of the challenge. It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.

That is it, them’s the rules.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION DIVISION

Nothing new to report. I’ll try to do better next week.

Want your own Photography 139 email subscription? Call, email, or text me and I’ll get you the hook up.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 GALLERY DIVISION

Sometimes people send me descriptions of their photos. I’ve never done anything with that information in the past. However, if you send me a description in the future, I will add it to your image in the Weekly Photo Challenge Gallery that houses all the submissions.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 MISSION DIVISION

For those of you that are observant of my schedule, I will be in Saint Paul on a mission trip next Monday. That doesn’t change the schedule of events. The deadline for inclusion of your submission will still be 11 AM on Monday. At 12:01, next week’s theme will be revealed. I won’t have much access to my email until I return to the Cyclone State on Friday, therefore I won’t reveal the submission until I return or until I feel that I have adequately recovered physically, emotionally, and psychologically.

**************************************

That’s all I got for today, so if the good Lord’s willin’ and the creek don’t rise, we will commune right here again next Monday. Hopefully it will be a very sad Monday!

@BOONEFUMCYG

By the time that this publishes, I should be on the road to Saint Paul with 3 other “adults” and 14 youth from my church for a mission trip.

If you are in the Minnesota, there is a chance you might be able to join us for a community dinner on Thursday night. You’d have to text me for details if that interested you.

However, if you aren’t in Minnesota, the best way to follow this adventure is to get on your phone. Get on Instagram. Follow @boonefumcyg. If you don’t have a phone, but do have a computer, you can follow us at the following URL:

@BOONEFUMCYG

Now there isn’t a ton of time to be dinking around with the social medias when you are doing

All the good you can, in all the ways you can, to all the souls you can, in every place you can, at all the times you can, with all the zeal you can, as long as ever you can.

However, there will be a handful of pictures posted each day, I’d guess. You might even see sweet pictures like the following:

WEEK 89 - HOT
HOT!

HOT! What a great theme! I don’t think I even need to define HOT, you know what HOT is all about.

However, remember that next Monday is Memorial Day (observed). While your bank and the post office might take the day off, Photography 139 does not. Email your submissions early or plan accordingly.

WEEK 88 - AMERICANA
AMERICANA

AMERICANA! What a great theme! But what is AMERICANA. Basically, AMERICANA is/be/are things associated with the culture and history of America, especially the United States. Many things can fall under AMERICANA. Paintings, prints and drawings, license plates or entire vehicles, household objects, tools and weapsons, flags, plaques and statues.. Nostalgia often plays into AMERICANA.

Basically anything that screams AMERICA to you. From small town festivals to the local VFW. Have at it. Remember, you can define the theme anyway that you see fit. Just get out there and take some photos!

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 86 – WEATHER

For the most part, the WEATHER in the Midwest (where most of the participants hail from) was pretty nondescript this week. I was a little worried that this would hurt submissions. But instead, the beautiful weather caused a virtual deluge of submissions!

WEEK 87 - GLITTERY
GLITTERY!

GLITTERY! What a great theme! It was originally suggested by Sarah Karber. Which reminds me that if you want to submit a theme for the next 52 weeks, you should do that in the comments section of this here blog. The door on making suggestions is closing rapidly.

But GLITTERY. What is GLITTERY?

GLITTERY is to shine with a bright, shimmering, reflected light. Glitter is GLITTERY. Sequins are GLITTERY. Water is GLITTERY. Should be easy to find on bright sunshiny days.

WEEK 74 - BLACK & WHITE
BLACK & WHITE!

I can’t deny it. This is my favorite theme. My first passion has always been BLACK & WHITE Photography. People that don’t like BLACK & WHITE photography are bad people. Plus, this is such an easy theme. Go out and take a BLACK & WHITE photo of literally anything. I probably should give a dissertation on how textures and light can be emphasized in BLACK & WHITE, but I won’t. Just go out and take some BLACK & WHITE photos!

To a Great 2017!

Pretend like I published this on January 1, just like I meant to do.

It is that day at Photography 139 Headquarters where we take down our old Photography 139 Calendar and put it in the trunk with many of the other remnants of our past.

We like to think that 2016 was a successful year for Photography 139 and I’d like to thank everybody that was responsible for making it appear so.
