Jesus Eggs!

On the Saturday before Easter I was sitting in a darkened in theater in Ankeny experiencing the “tortures of the damned” that is watching BATMAN VS. SUPERMAN, my phone buzzed. Since the movie picture had lost my interest moments into it, I felt no guilt in checking my text message. After all, I was probably already checking the score of the Oklahoma-Oregon game any ways.

The text message was from my church’s (the church I attend) Youth Minister Alisa wanting me to simultaneously run a photo booth and take pictures of our Sunday School Easter Egg Hunt.

You all know how I feel about multi-tasking.

So here are a few of the pictures almost exclusively from the Easter Egg Hunt.

But on the positive, If Easter was today, I could actually multi-task and run a photo booth and take pictures at the same time.

Matthew 28:6

I took a couple of other images before picking my Easter image.

Here are the other 2. One I actually sent out with Happy Easter text messages.

In the end, I found the Jesus statue to be a bit confusing and the cross on top my church to be derivative of my earlier work. Yeah, I’m that self-aware.

On a personal note, I’d like to take the time to thank Jason Baier for coming out and supporting the Youth Group Mission Trip Fundraiser at Panera last night. He got to enjoy some edible food, hear some harrowing tales of nearly lost Maroon 5 CDs, and meet some of my favorite people. Some of my other favorite people. I have several groups of favorite people. You might be in one of them. Play your cards right.

The fundraiser appeared to be a rousing success. The last count I saw was over 80 people came out and supported #Methodists2Milwaukee!* Even people who think Panera food is a bit on the gross side came out to support the Youth Group. That is commitment folks!

So thanks to Jason Baier (and everybody) else that will help fund our Youth Group’s mission of taking Jesus’ message of God’s love, forgiveness, and grace to The German Athens of America.**

*I might be jumping the gun on that hashtag.
**Marginally worse sounding than A Great Place on a Great Lake or Mil-town.

2015

So the walk down memory lane now concludes. With a look at the images that were in the calendar that early this morning will be taken down from kitchen walls (most common place I’ve seen the calendar hung up), office walls, cubicle walls, and placed gently in the trash with yesterday’s coffee grounds. 2015 Photography 139 Calendar I bid you a fond adieu.

CALENDAR & POSTCARD GALLERY

Since yesterday was the end of year and a holiday that many people celebrate (not me though, I don’t need the calendar gestapo telling me when to start a new year) I would like to take a quick moment to thank everybody that has continued to be an email subscriber to this here blog.

Off the top of my head and I apologize if I miss anybody:

These people are all original subscribers or at least haven’t changed their email since August 22, 2011. Which is how far back the records from off the top of my head go.

Merry Christmas - 2015

“Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about. Lights, please. ‘And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid and the angel said unto them, ‘Fear not for behold I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the City of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.’ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host, praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.’ That’s what Christmas is all about Charlie Brown.”

Merry Christmas everybody!
