The images in the folder call 07-05-08 involved a long day of Jaycee activities I engaged in on July 4, 2008.

I began the day helping out at a special Ames on the Half Shell event involving the Burnin’ Sensations and The Nadas. Then I went and helped setup and set off fireworks.

It was a pretty full and tiring day.

There is quite the eclectic collection of pictures in the folder 06-28-08.

There are pictures from Ames on the Half Shell. The Box Brothers are the band.

There are pictures of the WHO Tractor Ride.

There are pictures of the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

And finally, there is a picture of the most accurate nickname I was ever given.

The Intimidator mailing label was on a gift subscription to American Photo magazine from Steph. I had that nickname because 98% of the people that I have managed in my life have been terrified of me. The other 2%? Fools.

TRIGGER WARNING!!! TRIGGER WARNING!!! TRIGGER WARNING!!!

If your name is Micky and you are a purpose of a cowardly disposition, be warned, snakes lie ahead!

Normally I don’t like to warn people that there might be something they find scary or offensive ahead. However, I know Micky is particularly scared of snakes. So much so, that he brokered a deal with his wife that she handles any snakes that they come across along the path of their wedded bliss.

The hype about him being a great outdoorsman might be a little overhyped.

Now that little bit of unpleasantness is out of the way, the images that come from the folder 06-14-08 are mostly from Ames on the Half Shell. However, some involve a snake. Some involve the Ames Party Bus.

The snake was in Shorty and Doris’ flowerbed. The band that was playing Ames on the Half Shell was Burnin’ Sensations. They are still together and still playing. I haven’t seen them in several years, but back in the day, they used to be a real fun band to watch play.

Pretty much all of the images from the folder 06-07-08 are from Ames on the Half Shell’s Family Night.

I believe the name of the band was Murphy’s Law. There are plenty of images of people that weren’t Jaycees in this collection:

The picture of the pie was a rhubarb pie that Shannon had made me for my birthday.

The photos in the folder 05-31-08 are quite unique. They include photos of Duff flooding. There are also photos of the first Ames on the Half Shell event I ever worked. There are also a couple of bonus images of some groundhogs that used to live behind the Computer Mine.

The flood and the Ames on the Half Shell both happened on the same day. The band that played that night was Redzband. They were kind of a generic classic rock cover band. This is basically the template for bands that played Ames on the Half Shell, at least back in the day.

Here is the funny thing (and don’t tell Shannon because she will think that I’m getting soft) looking at the Ames on the Half Shell pictures actually made me kind of nostalgic. I definitely wasn’t expecting that, but I think I’ll survive.

I have to confess, this is kind of a garbage collection of photos that are in folder 05-13-08.

I might have normally skipped these images, but I did post them in a blog back in 2008 for some reason, so I figured it was for the best that I go ahead an put them forth. Take ownership of the situation.

Back in the old days the Ames Jaycees adopted a flowerbed in Brookside Park, These pictures were taken when we were planting the flowers for that year. I think this was the last year that they managed this flowerbed. Dying organizations atrophy projects.

One of the bitter parts of this collection is that Karen has passed away since this picture was taken. Many of these pictures were taken during Olivia’s Stitching Time. A sewing circle that Teresa started and ran for a year or so.

I don’t believe I used the Little White Lye Soap pictures for anything, but I did take them. The tulips are in my Mom’s yard.

It appears, she no longer makes laundry soap, but you can also buy a high quality broom while you are there, but if Shannon ever shows up at your domicile, she lectures you on the proper way to store a broom. It is a trade-off.

The shirt I was wearing was made by Lone Wolf Gear. It is clothing line designed and marketed by Jay. MDH stands for Modern Day Hero, a now defunct local rock band. Neither the band or Lone Wolf Gear have a website.

The picture of me dunking is not a photo trick or a lowered hoop, I’m sure.

I’m not quite sure why I took the religious photos. But I like them.

The Easter photos are interesting because this year we won’t be celebrating Easter on Easter for the first time that I can ever remember. Mom is heading to Virginia with her favorite child that weekend. I might have my own private Air Fryer Easter that day.

The pictures of Shannon are from when she started at United Way. She needed a head shot for some kind of press release or newsletter or to hang in the company bathroom. I’m not really sure. However, I am 100% sure that Shannon will continue to work at The United Way for the foreseeable future. She will probably retire from there.
