2012

Looking at these images I think I might go back to my old school way of lining up images with their months in 2017. If I walk away from the all flower calendar. I guess we’ll see how that plays out.

I realize that the March picture means it has been 4 years since I’ve been to New York City. That seems way too long. May have to remedy that next year.

2011

As I look over this collection I am reminded that it has been too long since I’ve done some full moon photography, like the photo represented by April.

Who wants to keep me company and go do some full moon photography next full moon?

One of my all-time favorite images is in this collection. Can you guess which one?

2010

The 2010 calendar was the last calendar that included a human subject. As I open up the subject matter past flowers for the 2017 calendar, it is possible a human subject might find their way back into the calendar. Until then Jill and Sara are the last humans to grace the calendar’s pages.

This was also the last calendar to feature an image that was heavily Photoshopped.

2009

Time to take another stroll down memory lane. This was the last time I appeared in a calendar. Probably will be the last time I ever appear in a calendar.

The last day to order a 2016 Photography 139 Calendar is approaching quickly. Very quickly.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 14 – BLACK AND WHITE

I don’t think that it is a secret to anybody that knows me at all that black and white photography is my true photographic love. And we all know that true love is the greatest thing in the world – except for a nice MLT – mutton, lettuce, and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomatoes are ripe.

But I digress.

The point is I’ve been looking forward to this week for 13 weeks now! Let’s see the submissions.

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - BECKY PERKOVICH
Becky Perkovich

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - ANGIE DEWAARD

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - KIM BARKER 1
Kim Barker 1

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - KIM BARKER 2

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - DEB KIBBY

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - MICKY AUGUSTIN 1

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - MICKY 2

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE - MIKE VEST
Mike Vest

If it was up to me, I would’ve thrown in BLACK AND WHITE as a category 4 or 5 times. Unfortunately, it just dawned on me that it is up to me. Maybe next year.

But why dwell on the past, when we have the future to look forward to? Let us look at this week’s theme…

WEEK 15 - FRAMED
FRAMED

This category doesn’t necessarily mean an object inside of a literal frame. Think of this as an object that your view is framed by other objects. Or think of this any way that you like.

MESSAGE FROM PHOTOGRAPHY 139’S SHAMELESS SELF-PROMOTION DIVISION.

Big time welcomes are due to not ONE, but TWO new email subscribers. So give BIG welcomes to new Photography 139 email subscribers Dawn Krause AND Joe Duff. I believe Joe to be our first subscriber from Texas! Going global… soon!

I would normally tell you that if you see them on the streets to give them a knowing glance AND don’t be shy about showing them the secret Photography 139 handshake. However, the Secret Handshake Division has yet to finalize the handshake. So at this time the knowing glance will have to suffice.

Welcome aboard Joe and Dawn. I know you shall fare well!

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 13 – GAMES

This week was perilously close to the first strike for the WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. But there was a lone submission.

This week’s submissions:

WEEK 13- GAMES - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

WEEK 13 - GAMES - CARLA STENSLAND
Carla Stensland

Maybe next week’s theme will ring more bells. Maybe next week’s theme will be the first strike.

Next week’s theme:

WEEK 14 - BLACK AND WHITE
BLACK AND WHITE

Should be a simple and easy theme. Take a BLACK AND WHITE picture. Of literally, anything.

As always, I’ll be excited to see the submissions.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 11 – RELIGION

I knew this week’s submissions would be a little light with the combination of the theme and the holiday. However, participation didn’t take too much of a hit. Hopefully it will rebound next week. That theme is pretty easy, but does require a bit of effort.

This week’s submissions:

WEEK 11 - RELIGION - KIM BARKER
Kim Barker

WEEK 11 - RELIGION - CARLA STENSLAND
Carla Stensland

WEEK 11 - TRINITY BARKER - RELIGION
Trinity Barker

WEEK 11 - RELIGION - ANGIE DEWAARD
Angie DeWaard

WEEK 11 - RELIGION - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

WEEK 11 - RELIGION - SHANNON BARDOLE
Shannon Bardole

Time to reveal next week’s theme:

WEEK 12 - STILL LIFE
Still Life!

Don’t know what STILL LIFE is? That’s okay, I have a definition:

STILL LIFE – noun – a representation chiefly of inanimate objects.

No housekeeping notes today. As always, I look forward to seeing all the submissions.
