I was supposed to meet Jen up there, but she got sick. I was supposed to meet Russell up there, but he was late. I was supposed to meet Sara up there, but she was late. But no big deal, you’d be surprised how many friends you can make while wearing a Pussyhat.

I’m planning on checking out the March for Our Lives next Saturday with Suzie. I have faith that she will make it.

By restoring these photos to the Photography 139 Photo Gallery, I was able to restore the following classic blog entries to their former glory:

MY HAPPY EASTER

A NEW GIG
RELAY FOR LIFE

The picture of me dunking is not a photo trick or a lowered hoop, I’m sure.

I’m not quite sure why I took the religious photos. But I like them.

The Easter photos are interesting because this year we won’t be celebrating Easter on Easter for the first time that I can ever remember. Mom is heading to Virginia with her favorite child that weekend. I might have my own private Air Fryer Easter that day.

The pictures of Shannon are from when she started at United Way. She needed a head shot for some kind of press release or newsletter or to hang in the company bathroom. I’m not really sure. However, I am 100% sure that Shannon will continue to work at The United Way for the foreseeable future. She will probably retire from there.

Next week’s walk down memory lane will involve snow.

Brunswick-Balke Collender Cup Experience

The last collection of photos from my last trip to Minnesota are of my trip to the Super Bowl Experience with Dae Hee, Bethany, and Nora.

It was 35 large to go to the Super Bowl Experience. Probably wasn’t worth it, but it was cool. Would’ve been cool if it wasn’t so busy and if Nora was older. But I’m sure the Super Bowl will never come to Kansas City or Green Bay or Chicago or Minnesota again for at least 40 more years. C’est la vie!

By What My Eyes Have Seen

On Super Bowl Sunday, DaeHee and I checked out part of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival. It was -2 degrees. Bethany and Nora just circled the block in the car. Here are a few photos:

There were two big disappointments with the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

#1. You weren’t allowed to go inside the ice castle. It was for external viewing only.
#2. The fried cheese curd stand wasn’t open. Apparently -2 degrees is too cold for them. Lame. Take some pride in the craft.

But other than that I’d almost recommend going to part of the Saint Paul Winter Carnival.

Play4Kay

On Saturday night Iowa State had their annual Play4Kay game. As part of the festivities that had a banquet for cancer survivors. After the banquet, they had honored cancer survivors on center court and then they helped line the tunnel and gave the players high fives during player introductions.

My Mom was one of the cancer survivors that took part in the festivities. I took a few cruddy cell phone pictures from the night. Many of them are just Iowa State stuff from the inside of the Jacobson Building.

Unfortunately, the Cyclones couldn’t pull the game out. The fell down by 25 and cut the lead all the way down to 2, but then Oklahoma State through up a prayer (that shouldn’t have counted, thank you shot clock operator) that fell in the final seconds to secure the win.

Here is a great tweet from @cyclonewbb. It shows the video that they showed on the video board while they honored the cancer survivors and shows video of the cancer survivors on the floor:

As far as I know, The Inebriated Saints no longer exist. But I could be wrong about such things.

By adding these pictures to the Photography 139 Photo Gallery, I was able to restore the following blog to its original glory:

THE CHURCH OF THE INEBRIATED SAINTS

Next Saturday’s walk down memory lane will possibly involve soap, but will definitely involve a picture of me mailing.

When I Meet Thomas Jefferson I’m ‘A Compel Him to Include Women in the Prequel!

I went to the Women’s March a few weeks back. I couldn’t stay for very long because I had 1 PM tickets for the Iowa State Cyclones beatdown of the #8 Texas Tech Red Raiders. So I showed up early hoping other people would show up early.

On my walk to the assembly grounds I snapped a few photos of the Capitol and of some of the statues on the Capitol grounds:

There was a small group of children that had their jaws drop when they saw the Soldier’s and Sailors’ Monument. They were apparently shocked by its depiction of Iowa as mother. Offering nourishment to her children. Their parents hurried them along.

Forgive Me for My Human Frailty

While I was working on “Friday’s” blog post, it occurred to me that perhaps it was time to share my biggest photographic screw-up of 2017.

I have many weaknesses as a photographer. My greatest weakness is that I have a tendency to dink with camera settings. That isn’t the bad part. The bad part is that I forget to change them back to a more standard setup for whatever my next photo shoot ends up being.

Back in May, I invited former Iowa State basketball player and current Christian missionary Jake Sullivan to speak to the Youth Group. I took a few pictures of the event, but wasn’t paying attention to the fact that I had left the camera in on a “creative effect” from the last time I was dinking with the camera. This created, pretty much unusable images coming from the event.
