Personal Photo Project of the Week #126

Shine
Shine

A special thanks to Shannon for acting as photo assistant for this project. A task that was more time consuming than arduous. Consider that in the 5 hours that we worked on this project, I took about 25 pictures. I also drove to at least 3 different locations just to realize that they were too overgrown, or the moon wasn’t in the right location.

The average exposure time for these images was 4 minutes.

Not sure what next week’s Personal Photo Project will be. Depends on what I get edited and what I don’t. If I was a betting man (and I am, just ask Russell) I bet it will involve flowers of some kind.

Iowa Gothic

Jesse and I went on a road trip a ways back. Here are some images from that trip, provided with the occasional commentary.

I love the fact that “Loafing” was prohibited.

I had to have this picture taken as 1 of my favorite scenes from one of my favorite movies (Taxi Driver) is when Robert DeNiro takes his date to the porn theater because he doesn’t know any better.

The chick that ran this place was awesome & I think we were her favorite guests of the day.

There aren’t enough buildings in Iowa that are marked where a ship ran into them.

Tebow!

Anybody who knows the exact reason why we stopped to take this picture is one of my favorite people in the world.

I am already looking forward to our next road trip. Maybe a couple more people will join us. If interested, forward your Road Tripping Resume to me. We will be looking for people with a sense of adventure and a large bladder. The bladder size is negotiable.

Personal Photo Project of the Week #52

Heavenly Peace

Most people have already seen this picture that I took to send as a Christmas e-card. (Just one of the many awesome features of the Photography 139 Galleries!)

I borrowed a hymnal and candle after the early evening Candlelight Service on Christmas Eve and took this picture and returned them during the later service.

Since this isn’t new to many people, here are a couple unrelated bonus pictures:

Squirrel

Snowy Tree

I’m also excited to report that my new website is almost fully functional. Now it is merely a matter of getting some content and recruiting some more writers. Perhaps there will be a full-fledged announcement in a week or so.

Next week’s Personal Photo Project is the first in a series of pictures that are going to seem somewhat (completely) self-absorbed. Perhaps even worse than my Twitter account. If my greatest influence on myself is me, I’m going to start re-doing some “classic” Christopher D. Bennett images.

The first redux will be Nuclear Library.

RWPE #51 – Peace of Mind

There were more submissions for PEACE OF MIND than I expected with the business of the holiday season. That is pleasing to me. Here are the submissions:

Christopher D. Bennett

Dawn Krause

Mike Vest

Shannon Bardole

So it has come down to one final theme. Then this project has officially ran its course. 52 weeks. 52 random pictures.

Here is the final theme:

EYE

I think this is a great theme to end year 1 of this project on. It is a very broad theme. Everybody has an eye or two. Everybody knows at least 1 person with an eye or two. There is a holiday this week, but it is a meaningless holiday, so I hope there are plenty of submissions.

Ain’t Distributed Right

Nader made this selection over Mongolian one night before we saw The Expendables. This picture had my favorite judge’s comment on it.

“Nice try.”

Hilarious!

Nader also consider this picture over a bowl of noodles.

2010 - Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest Nominee

5 of 6 selectors have been selected for next year’s Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest. Still room for 1 more, but it has to be a dude. If you are interested in trying you hand at it, let me know.

Jay Janson

Jay had a million questions about the process before he picked (which was a little strange since he had picked in the past), but once he was on the clock he said it was a tough decision because there were “so many good pictures”. But he arrived at his decision fairly quickly and chose the picture below:

Blues

It is only a theory, but I think he liked the power lines in the background. He loves it when I have power lines in my pictures.
