Norman Bates

I might have gone a little mad with the HDR toning on this image. Its not like I’m a maniac or a raving thing. I just go a little mad sometimes. We all go a little made sometimes. Haven’t you?

Sometimes just one time can be enough.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 21 – LANDMARK

Oooh.

This week came dangerously close to the first strike against this project, but then Kim came in with a photo Monday morning. Maybe this was a theme that didn’t ring many bells or maybe it was all the “bad” weather last week. Regardless. Solid work Kim!

The submissions for LANDMARK:

WEEK 21 - LANDMARK - KIM BARKER
Kim Barker

WEEK 21 - LAND MARK - CHRISTOPHER D. BENNETT
Christopher D. Bennett

No reason to dwell on the past though. Time to look at the future.

This week’s theme:

WEEK 22 - JUNK
JUNK!

I might regret saying this, but as always, define JUNK however you see fit.

HOUSEKEEPING

At this time, nothing new to report from any Photography 139 Divisions.

Check Out this A Hole!

When you read the subject of this entry, you probably thought that this post was going to be about the Iowa Caucuses, but actually it is an image from my most recent trip to visit Nate and Laura.

Behold!

The A in Manhattan

Laura tells me that it is quite the thing for people of Manhattan to get their picture taken in the “A hole” of the giant Manhattan sign that graces their skyline.

For the record, I’ve never consider the blank parts of letters to be holes. I guess that is just me.

Reclaimed

I might have mentioned in the past that sometimes photographing clouds can make me… well sad isn’t the right word… but I haven’t always enjoyed clouds to their full potential because of a long chain of reasoning that fires instantaneously in my head.

While I don’t want to go over the story again I feel that I’m over it now.

Any way, cloud picture. To some degree.

The Harvest

On my way home from The Ledges the other day I spotted a deer on the side of the road.

After I passed it by it crossed the road and went into a conrnfield. I circled my car back and got this shot.

There probably is another deer photo in the hopper.

WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE – WEEK 20 – MUSIC

This week’s theme was MUSIC. There must not many lovers of MUSIC out there as participation took a bit of a dip this week. That is okay, because the submissions were great. Hopefully next week’s theme trips more triggers.

Time to reveal this week’s theme:

WEEK 21 - LANDMARK
LANDMARK!

While there aren’t many music lovers out there, maybe there are numerous LANDMARK lovers out there.

What is a LANDMARK?

Something that a town might be known for. A famous thing. Like the Campanile at Iowa State or the water tower in Ogden. Something that if you were giving directions, you would reference. At Milton Lott’s Grave, take a right. Right into the river.

Time for a reminder of the rules.

RULES

1. The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week.
2. Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by noon on the Monday of the challenge. It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.

That is it, them’s the rules.

Le Cirque est Plein

Last Thursday was Senior Night at some sort of Boone High athletics event. Alexis was honored along with the other seniors.

Do to a scheduling kerfuffle, Carla wasn’t there to walk with Alexis. Therefore Mom did. Here is a picture from that night:

It is hard to remember that when Alexis was a little kid she loathed having her picture taken. Now she is the Selfie Queen!

Here it is… the picture that got me kicked out of the Iowa State Flower Garden…

But don’t worry, I probably still got at least a couple of pictures from the state fair trip to come.
