A Rock Painted to Look Like a Rock
A Rock Painted to Look Like a Rock

I recently went on a road trip through southwest Iowa with Shannon. While the Freedom Rock was not on the original itinerary, a quirk of fate (i.e. bad traffic on I-80), and my famous love for bad art (I even once went to see a Jackson Pollock) converged and we stopped for a few minutes to see the Freedom Rock. Which is a rock. Painted to look like a rock.

There is also a bunch of patriotic art work on the rock as well.

Next week’s Personal Photo Project will most likely involve a flower garden from an exotic locale. Well, not that exotic.

Next week’s Personal Photo Project may involve one of the ugliest pieces of art I’ve ever seen in my life.

Also, a big welcome to Michelle “Howpt”, who has become the latest person to show class and sophistication by becoming the latest email subscriber to this here blog. Formally known as An Artist’s Notebook.

So if you see Michelle out and about, give her a nod and a wink. Don’t forget to give her the ultra secret Photography 139 email hand club handshake. Only legal in 7 states. Including Iowa.

Not to Be…

Nate recently got a gig to be the Chef at a new restaurant. He tapped me to photograph a few of the dishes for the menu that Dae Hee was going to design. But things fell apart before the restaurant even opened and before I even edited the images.

Food is notoriously difficult to photograph (despite what Instagram might lead you to believe) and since these images were never edited, you will have to imagine what they would look like if they were color corrected and what not.

The good news for me is that I still got to eat all these tasty meals. The bad news for you is that it might be a little bit before you get to try these tasty meals.
