A long time ago, I set a dead lotus on fire and photographed it. One of those pictures made it into the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon. I haven’t really visited the theme of burning dead flowers since then, but as I have been working on reorganizing my flower albums, I became inspired to revisit that theme. I’ve already done the lotus thing, so this time, I chose zinnias.
Zinnias symbolize endurance, lasting friendship, goodness, and remembrance.
This was a test run to see how a zinnia burns. There is another zinnia burning photo session in my future, with a bit more control over the environment.
