For the first time ever, Big Noon came to Iowa State for their game against the Iowa Hawkeyes. It was hard to get many picture of the pregame show because it ends right before the game. However, Barstool Sports was there and also did a show right next to where the Big Noon show was going to take place. I got a few pictures of that and the general setup for Big Noon.
College GameDay has been to Ames a couple of times for Iowa State games. I can say that while I enjoy watching College GameDay better (although with Lee Corse retiring, that could change) the environment surrounding Big Noon was more “fun”. More relaxed maybe. They know how to play to the home crowd better. However, this might be the Barstool vibe I was catching.
I don’t really know anything about Barstool. I’ve never consumed a minute of their content. I didn’t even know that David Portnoy existed until Lowell was telling me about him and cheesesteaks when we were in Philadelphia. I now understand that he is somewhat of a controversial figure, but I do not know why. I haven’t spent a second researching it. If he is a racist or a transphobe, I don’t know. Apparently he is a douchebag, I just don’t know the type. These pictures are not an endorsement of him.
However, I can tell you that at the rest of his staff HATE Iowa and that came through. I don’t know any of their names. Sorry. But one guy hates Iowa because he is a Wisconsin fan. One guy hates Iowa because their fans tried and continue to try to get his wife fired. Then the female voice of the show hates Iowa because when they did their show in Iowa City Hawk fans hit her IN THE HEAD – WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT – WITH A FULL CAN OF BEER! So I can see why at least 2 of them have well founded grudges again Hawkeye fans. And also, you know why I would never go into Kinnick Stadium for an Iowa State-Iowa game. Carver, yeah, no problem. Kinnick, nope. That is a hard pass.
Here are some pictures from that part of the morning:

Plenty more pictures from the pregame activities left to share.
