Ireland Day 5

Day 5 in Ireland. We took a different route on this day than the others. Rather than driving somewhere, we decided to take a tour bus over to Galway via the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren. We got on the same tour bus with Jon and Angie and kind of hung out with them for the day.

It was an easier, lazier day. And that had it’s perks. But on the bad side, we gave up the freedom to do what we wanted and I think our time at the Cliffs of Moher was cut way shorter than I would have wanted and we only had 10 minutes at part of The Burren and our time at Galway was also not nearly long enough. Also, bus seats are way less comfortable than airplane seats. And that is saying something.

Here are the cruddy cell phone pictures from the day:

Throwback to when the world respected us and we weren’t a punchline.

I finally took down that sandwich I bought at the cafe. It was worth the wait!

The Cliffs of Moher.

This bird attracted a crowd and I’m guessing might be the most photographed bird in the history of Ireland.

I don’t know the girl, but might the one that Andy was macking on in the bus.

The Burren!

Fish and chips in this sweet pub in Galway.

This was the best fish and chips I had in Ireland. Absolutely delicious!

The only time I got mushy peas. Everyone else at the table hated them, but I loved them. But I’m a noted vegetable fiend.

Such a cool pub!

It was enormous and every room was cool!

After the food the only thing we really had time for was the Galway Cathedral. Which was beautiful!

When we got back to Dublin I got to meet Eric Heft. Andy loaned him a Tide Stick while I was off photographing a bridge.

Then for supper we met Andy’s friend Don for fish and chips again.

This one was recommended to us by the security guard at the pep rally.

It was good, but Galway’s was much better.

After that we ended up back at the flat for the night. Resting up for the last day in Ireland.

  1. Similar to how I wish we’d had more time at Giant’s Causeway, etc. than we did with our tour group, I agree – I didn’t feel like we had enough time at any of the stops. It was awesome and we got to see and learn a lot, but just rush-rush-rush.
