The Annual Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest registration form is now ready for people to download. The process is a little bit different this year. Photographers have to submit an online form and then the Chamber will email you a copy of the entry tags. You can fill out the online form by clicking on the link below:
PUFFERBILLY DAYS PHOTO CONTEST ENTRY FORM
Some things to note that have changed from last year.
- The deadline to enter your physical entries has changed from the Friday before Pufferbilly Day to the Wednesday before Pufferbilly Days. The deadline this year is WEDNESDAY, September 9.
- The location to drop off you physical entries has changed back to the Boone Chamber – 903 Story Street
- Going back to 6 Classes. (ANIMALS, BLACK & WHITE, HUMANS, PLACES, PLANTS, and THINGS) Dropped TRANSPORTATION from last few years and merged PLACES back into one class after splitting it last year into IOWA PLACES and OUTSIDE IOWA PLACES.
- The time to pick up your pictures after Pufferbilly Days is now only 2 weeks. After that they become property of The Chamber.
- Digital copies of images can now be mailed directly to me at bennett@photography139.com. Instead of emailing them to The Chamber and them emailing them to me.
Other than that, the procedures and rules are the same as last year. I look forward to seeing the entries!

Submissions from 37 participants this week. A popular week! WooHoo! Plus Sarah T. added Delaware and Maryland to the Year 13 Photography 139 Submission Map! WooHoo! That is 4 states she has added in just the last 2 weeks alone! Almost 60% of the country covered at the halfway point of the calendar year. That is nothing to shake a stick at. But shaking a stick at it would have made a great TREES picture.
A huge thanks to everyone that included the location of their picture with their submission! And a huge thanks to everyone that submitted before Monday morning! Makes my job so much easier!

That is 29 states! 1 district! 4 foreign countries!
I’m definitely not tracking this, but I believe we had submissions from the following unique counties in Iowa this week: Audubon, Boone, Dallas, Dickinson, Humboldt, Polk, Story, Warren, Webster, and Winneshiek.
There were a few milestones this week. Lowell joined the 2.5 Year Streak Club! WooHoo! WooHoo! Woo! Micky joined the 3.5 Year Streak Club! WooHoo! WooHoo! WooHoo! Woo! But it wasn’t all rainbows and unicorns. Brandon’s streak went kaput after 2 weeks. Mary’s streak is but a memory after 3 weeks.
Enough dwelling on the past! Time to look to the future. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! This week’s theme:
AMERICA – IOWA STATE FAIR PHOTOGRAPHY SALON THEME
AMERICA! What a great theme for Year 13 of THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE! Just be sure to follow the rules!
Here are the Year 13 rules!
- YEAR 13 – THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE RULES
- The picture must be taken between 12:01 PM today and 11 AM next Monday. This isn’t a curate your photos project. This is a get your butt off the couch and take pictures challenge!
- There is a limit of 2 submissions per person per theme. If you send me more than 2, I will use the first 2 that you submit. If you submit 2 pictures, make sure they are of different subjects.
- Deadline to submit your submission is 11 AM Central Time the following Monday. But that is a deadline. Pictures can be submitted as soon as you take them. In fact, pictures being submitted by Sunday night are GREATLY APPRECIATED!
- To be considered the photographer of an image, you have to be the one that clicks the shutter. If you hand your camera over to somebody else to take a picture of you, you are NOT the photographer of that image.
- No screen captures. This is a photography challenge. Not a “look at what I found on the internet” challenge.
- Please include the location of where the picture was taken with your submission. PLEASE DON’T MAKE ME ASK YOU!
- Please submit images that are OVER 1000 pixels at their largest side. DON’T OVERCROP! Look at this page on a computer, if your images are considerably smaller than everyone else’s pictures, then you are sending too small of images!
- ABSOLUTELY NO USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE!!
- How to Submit
- Email your submission to bennett@photography139.com.
- Text your submission to my Google Pixel 10 Pro. I’m not putting my phone # here. If you know, you know.
I look forward to seeing your interpretation!
Until next Monday, may you run and not be weary. May your heart be filled with song. And may the love of God continue to give you hope and keep you strong.
