I have to cut my Glen Hansard tribute posts short because Dolly Parton passed away this week. Another kick to the chops for the music world and the world in general. Just one of the best people around. Somebody that took their humble beginnings, became insanely successful, and rather than using her money to buy elections and further oppress the already oppressed, she made the world a better place. AND she had already made the world a better place with her music. But she invested into her communities and started a free book program that distributed (so far) over 330 million free books around the world. A program she started to honor who father who never learned to read or write.

All of that is in addition to the fact that she is one of the greatest songwriters to ever live. A very strong case could be made that she is the greatest songwriter to ever live. Such a very sad day for the world!
