This week’s Personal Photo Project was to take some photos of the flowers at Reiman Gardens. I’m going to split these pictures into two separate posts to maximize the appreciation of these pictures. At least that is my goal.
Well-Shaped Girl

These are just absolutely beautiful. The middle part is called the stamen, right? (It’s been a million years since we studied parts of the flower in 6th grade.) It is so sharp and contrasting in each of these.
Actually, that is a complicated question. Made even more complicated by the fact that I’m not really sure what kind of flower is in that picture. Assuming you are talking about “Well-Shaped Girl”.
The stamen consists of two parts, the anther and the filament. There are usually several stamen around one main tube in the middle. The main tube in the middle is called the pistil. It consists of three parts. The ovary on the bottom. The style reaching towards the top. The stigma at the top.
However, that one flower doesn’t seem to have stamen. It seems to have a pistil with several stigma coming off it.
I just really don’t know the answer. Stamen is probably close enough.
