The Lady in Red

I’ve never seen you looking so lovely as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright, mhm-hmm
I’ve never seen so many men ask you if you wanted to dance
They’re looking for a little romance, given half a chance
And I have never seen that dress you’re wearing
Or the highlights in your hair that catch your eyes
I have been blind

The lady in red
Is dancing with me, cheek to cheek
There’s nobody here, it’s just you and me
It’s where I want to be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I’ll never forget the way you look tonight

I’ve never seen you looking so gorgeous as you did tonight
I’ve never seen you shine so bright, you were amazing
I’ve never seen so many people want to be there by your side
And when you turned to me and smiled, you took my breath away
I have never had such a feeling
Such a feeling of complete and utter love, as I do tonight

Lady in red
Is dancing with me, cheek to cheek
There’s nobody here, it’s just you and me
It’s where I want to be
But I hardly know this beauty by my side
I’ll never forget the way you look tonight

I never will forget the way you look tonight
The lady in red, the lady in red
The lady in red, my lady in red

I love you

Songwriter: Chris De Burgh

Okay. So there is no lady in red for this Thursday’s flowertography collection. In fact, there are hardly any red flowers in this collection. So this might week’s title might be reminiscent of when I entered a black & white daisy picture into the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon under the name “The Girl in the Blue Skirt” and the judges called me to ask me if the picture had the wrong name because there was no girl in it. No blue skirt in it. No girl in a blue skirt in it.

The reason this song came to mind is because it shows up in an important scene in the new Linda Cardellini movie NONNAS. Which is a pretty good movie currently playing on Netflix. I don’t want to go into much detail as I don’t want to create any spoilers for anybody that hasn’t watched it yet. Just a polite recommend.

But Thursdays are for flowers and this week’s collection is the balance of images I took of Valerie’s Zinnia patch.

Next Thursday’s flowertography session will involve flowers from the Iowa Arboretum.
