We’re less than 2 months away from the Pufferbilly Days Photo Contest, so it seems like a good time to share the entry form for this year.

You can download a .pdf of the form here:

2025 Pufferbilly Days Entry Form

I did make a few small changes this year. Some of them are really just cosmetic. But there are now 8 Photo Classes. Up from the 6 last year and I believe 4 when I took over.

CHANGES:

  • TRAINS, PLANES, & AUTOMOBILES has been changed to TRANSPORTATION. It has always been the least popular class and was created to try to get some train pictures entered. But this is the class that is most likely to go away in 2026.
  • PEOPLE has been changed to HUMANS.
  • PLACES has been split into IOWA PLACES and OUTSIDE OF IOWA PLACES. I can’t say I love the name “OUTSIDE OF IOWA PLACES” but I wanted to split PLACES up because it dominated the entries last year. If they both are popular classes this year, I’ll have to look into coming up with a better name for next year. I’m certainly open to suggestion.
  • I added a completely new class in STUFF.
  • But the biggest change to note is that the drop-off and pick-up location for entries changed from the Chamber office to the downtown branch of Vision Bank.

As always, I will see how this year goes and tinker again next year. I hope many of you decide to enter.

PEACE! What a great theme! But did enough people get centered enough to make it a popular theme?

Here is the list of rules for Year 12 of THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE:

1. The picture must be taken between 12:01 PM today and 11 AM next Monday. This isn’t a curate your photos project. This is a get your butt off the couch and take pictures challenge!

  1. There is a limit of 2 submissions per person per theme. If you send me more than 2, I will use the first 2 that you submit. If you submit 2 pictures, make sure they are of different subjects.
  2. Deadline to submit your submission is 11 AM Central Time the following Monday. But that is a deadline. Pictures can be submitted as soon as you take them.
  3. To be considered the photographer of an image, you have to be the one that clicks the shutter. If you hand your camera over to somebody else to take a picture of you, you are NOT the photographer of that image.
  4. No screen captures. This is a photography challenge. Not a “look at what I found on the internet” challenge.
  5. Please include the location of where the picture was taken with your submission.

There are still 2 ways to submit:

  1. Email your submission to bennett@photography139.com.
  2. Text your submission to my Google Pixel 8 Pro.

But you didn’t come here to listen to me talk all tommyrot about participation rates or streaks or the rules of the challenge or how to submit. You came to see the submissions and what streaks continued and what streaks flamed out:

Submissions from 36 participants this week! That is more like it! I also think this is a real solid collection of submission too!

There were submissions this week taken in the following places:

  • Arkansas
  • Delaware
  • Georgia
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Michigan
  • Missouri
  • Pennsylvania
  • Texas
  • Wyoming

Thanks to Cathie’s travels, we’ve added Georgia to the Year 12 Map! Thanks to Michelle’s travels, we’ve added Delaware to the Year 12 map!

In fact, Michelle’s submission from Delaware means that there are now only 5 states left that I have never received submissions from since I started tracking where pictures were submitted from. What are the 5 missing states? I thought you would never ask:

  • Alabama
  • Connecticut
  • Maine
  • Massachusetts
  • Rhode Island

In fact, if we ever get down to just 1 state that hasn’t been submitted from, I will fly there just to complete the map! At least that sounds good in theory. Please don’t be Alabama. Please don’t be Alabama. Please don’t be Alabama.

Here is the Year 12 list of places where submissions have been taken:

  • Alaska
  • Arkansas
  • California
  • Colorado
  • Delaware
  • Florida
  • Georgia
  • Illinois
  • Indiana
  • Iowa
  • Kansas
  • Kentucky
  • Maryland
  • Michigan
  • Minnesota
  • Missouri
  • Nebraska
  • Nevada
  • New Jersey
  • New Mexico
  • New York
  • North Carolina
  • North Dakota
  • Ohio
  • Oklahoma
  • Pennsylvania
  • South Dakota
  • Tennessee
  • Texas
  • Utah
  • Washington
  • Washington D.C.
  • Wisconsin
  • Wyoming
  • Argentina
  • Chile
  • Dominican Republic
  • England

That is 31 states, 1 district, and 4 foreign countries!

The big milestone this week was Suzie joined the Double Digit Streak Club! WooHoo! WooHoo! But it wasn’t all good news. Brandon couldn’t build on last week’s submission. His streak is over before it began!

Enough dwelling on the past! Time to look to the future. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! This week’s theme:

WPC - WEEK 517 - PAINTING

PAINTING

PAINTING! What a great theme for Year 12 of THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE!

I look forward to seeing your interpretation!

That is all I got, so if the good Lord’s willin’ and the creek don’t rise, we will all be sharing your idea of PAINTING in this place that could use a fresh coat next Monday.
