Add a little sugar, honeysuckle and
A great, big expression of happiness
Boy, you couldn’t miss with a dozen roses
Such would astound you
The joy of children laughing around you
These are the makings of you
It is true, the makings of youThe righteous way to go
Little one would know
Or believe if I told them so
You’re second to noneThe love of all mankind
Should reflect some sign
Of these words I’ve tried to recite
They are close, but not quite
Almost impossible to do
Reciting the makings of youThe righteous way to go
Little one would know
Or believe if I told them so
You’re second to noneThe love of all mankind
Songwriters: Curtis Mayfield, Rodney Jerkins, Anesha Birchett, and Antea Birchett
Should reflect some sign
Of these words I’ve tried to recite
They are close, but not quite
Almost impossible to do
Reciting the makings of you
As February is Black History Month and our government is doing everything they can to erase Black History I thought I would feature songs written by black songwriters this month. This one being written by the incomparable Curtis Mayfield.
But Thursdays are for flowers. This flowertography collection took place in my yard and features only lilies!
Next Thursday’s flowertography session will also take place in my yard.
