There is something infinitely healing in the repeated refrains of nature.

Thursdays are for flowers. This flowertography session took place on my birthday. My birthday was on a Monday this year, so I took it off to have a 3 day weekend. I didn’t have any grand plans. I just wanted to make a lazy circuit of some of my favorite places to go photograph. Jester Park was my first stop. The second one was the Iowa Arboretum. Then I was going to go to lunch at A&W in Jefferson. But unfortunately, I lost my wallet shortly after leaving the Iowa Arboretum.
That misadventure cost me the rest of my plans for the day. Which was pretty lame.
However, I think some of the flowertography images I got at the Iowa Arboretum were decidedly not lame. In fact, if I don’t break my arm patting myself on the back, I think there are some pretty good ones. In fact, I could see one of these gracing the pages of the Photography 139 Calendar. Maybe even being an entry in the Iowa State Fair Photography Salon. But I don’t want to get ahead of myself. We all know that I won’t start picking pictures for that until as late as humanly possible.
Gaze upon the flowertography images I took on my birthday trip to the Iowa Arboretum:
I must have been in a good mood before I lost my wallet cause I was even eagerly photographing gross irises.
Next Thursday’s flowertography session will take place in my yard.
