Proust Questionnaire Number Six
Marcel Proust Quote:
“Only through art can we emerge from ourselves and know what another person sees.”
Confessions Question:
The natural talent I’d like to be gifted with.
Confidences Question:
The gift of nature I would like to have.
Proust’s Answer:
Will-power, and seductiveness.
I have many extremely talented friends. God certainly has not shorted me in talents. But as I survey my friends, the two talents that do make me slightly jealous are glaringly obvious.
The natural talents that I wished that I had:

Derrick Gorshe’s ability to play the guitar.

Jay Janson’s ability to draw. (In fairness, this isn’t a good example of Jay’s drawing ability, but if you want to try drawing in pitch black, I can set that up.)

Proust didn't like to make these easy, did he?
In fairness, Proust didn't write the questions. His responses just became famous, for reasons I haven't quite figured out.
This was a popular parlor game in the 19th century. Can you imagine sitting around with your friends/family and answering these questions.
Maybe I will hold a Proust Party at some point in the future. I doubt it would be highly attended.
I figured that he had developed them!
Weren't a lot of parlor games played largely amongst polite society, too? I have trouble imagining answering these with some of my friends/family, but to answer them amongst people you barely know…!
