GOVERNMENT didn’t really ring a lot of people’s bells, which means it will definitely be back on the menu for the next set of themes. Why? I’m not a quitter. However, we are nearing the halfway point of the second set of themes since we rebooted the RANDOM WEEKLY PHOTO EXPERIMENT and rebranded it the THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. Therefore, over the next few weeks, in the COMMENTS section of this here blog, leave your ideas for themes for the next 52 weeks.

What there lacks for quantity, it makes up for in quality! A solid week of submissions!
But enough dwelling on the past. Time to look to the future. We are all interested in the future, for that is where you and I are going to spend the rest of our lives. And remember my friend, future events such as these will affect you in the future! This week’s theme:
ANIMAL!
I don’t think I need to define ANIMAL. Many of you have one of two or ten or fifty living with you. Many of you are raising a few. Some of you go out on Friday nights with one. Everybody knows where a park is or even has access to a window. Should be a good easy week, filled with submissions.

A MESSAGE FROM THE PHOTOGRAPHY 139 RULES DIVISION
1. The picture has to be taken the week of the theme. This isn’t a curate your pictures challenge. This is a get your butt off the couch (my personal experience) and put your camera in your hands challenge. Don’t send me a picture of you next to the Eiffel Tower, when I know you were in Iowa all week. I will point out that I have let that slide some in the past. I will not in the future. Since it is literally about the only rule.
2. Your submission needs to be emailed to bennett@photography139.com by 11 AM on the Monday of the challenge. It should be pointed out that this blog auto-publishes at 12:01 on Mondays. So it wouldn’t hurt to get your picture in earlier.

You are just saying that because you haven’t seen the pure visceral power of the Beaver Post Office pictures I took.
There was a point where I was genuinely concerned I might be trapped in Beaver for hours after a train stopped on the tracks blocking the only road leaving Beaver to the south. The roads to the north were hardly in good shape.
Where was your photo?
I legitimately didn’t know that Beaver even had a post office. We went door-to-door once there when my grandpa was running for County Supervisor, and I remember there being a total of something like 75 people living there.
I was remiss in my photography this week. I was going to take a photo of the very structured rules that Alice has hung on her bedroom door that one must meet in order to be allowed entry, but it didn’t photograph very well.
Saturday hours are 9:30-10:30 if you need to mail something. About the last building still standing on the main street.
I was hoping to also photograph the Luther post office, but it is gone. They now just have a little shed that houses their mailboxes. Beaver’s post office is something special.
I had three ideas.
1. Beaver Post Office
2. Camp Dodge Tank
3. Iowa State University.
I didn’t make it to Iowa State. Might make it their for my ANIMAL photo. Kind of gotten into the habit of doing a Saturday road trip to take my pictures. Not really sure where I would even go for ANIMAL. Besides Lake Laverne. I hate zoos. So those are out.
I might just take a non-related Photo Road Trip on Saturday.

I love that you’ve been doing trips. Let me know if you need a buddy sometime! Those are all awesome, and I really can’t wait to see the Beaver loser photos. I might see if I can drag the kids to the park and pray for animals or something…
I THINK it means “Impeach the Mo-Fo Already.” Or else it could be way dirtier, and mean “In the Mo-Fo Ass.” Which is way more graphic, so I’m going to assume it’s the first. I’ve been wrong before, though…
She did! I should get you a photo. She wrote them about a year ago, and they’re delightful. Mostly involve Charlie not getting into her business. Which is a fair reason to write a list of rules. Except that he can’t read, and he certainly couldn’t a year ago.
I’ll let you know the next time I go on one. Probably not this week. Next week’s theme won’t really lend itself either, so we’ll see.
That is basically what it means. I was told this is a variation on a common female phrase used when women are telling other women to dump some guy. I never would’ve known if I wasn’t told.
She’s going to try to put a lock on her door when she’s a teenager.
OK, that makes me feel better. I had seen it before with a “d” for “dump” instead of the “i,” but it was a sort of wild guess on the true meaning of the I.
Yeah, I am guessing that’s coming like a freight train. She already tries to prop chairs in front of the door to keep Charlie out.
I was wondering how many people would know what it means.
I was told the picture was going to have somebody flipping off an abbreviation. Or that is how I took the message. I thought the abbreviation was going to be GOP.
I guessed wrong, but the message was still the same.
Maybe Alice needs one of these shirts. But she’ll be talking about keeping Charlie out of her room.
I do hope that the gal doing the flipping off was supporting the position of the shirt. I feel like I must seem like I inherently disagree when I use words like “gal.” That’s not a very progressive word.
I think Alice’s would say something like “KTMFOOMR” (keep the mo-fo out of my room). I wonder if Cafe Press would do that.
She does agree with the shirt. Her name is Sarah Brailey. She is a professional musician.

I am all over this! That’s really cool – and wow, Julliard! I am excited to read about it!
When Stephanie started participating, she said that she wanted to be the “New York Voice” of the Photography Challenge as she lives in Brooklyn. Which I think is pretty cool. There are several people that are all over the United States that subscribe, but almost everybody that participates is in central Iowa area. Bill is in Omaha.
My half-sister that participated briefly is in Tennessee… I think. Pastor Sarah is in Minneapolis. So Stephanie has the most exotic location… as it relates to me.
She just got a job at the failing New York Times. Weird that they are hiring when they are doing so horrible financially. She got a bunch of buttons on her first day of work that say things like:
The truth is hard.
Truth. The alternative is a lie.
Truth. It’s more important now than ever.
She is going to send some of those to me. I’m pretty excited about that too.

Wow, the Times. That is sort of crazy, since print is sort of a dying medium altogether – although I bet blogs and stuff don’t pay great. Those buttons sound AMAZING – you need photos!
