Iron Mountain Road

Now is probably a good time to share a few more photos from my trip to South Dakota with my Mom. These pictures are from the Iron Mountain Road:

If you ever visit the Black Hills, I would strongly recommend the Iron Mountain Road. You travel through 3 tunnels that all face Mount Rushmore. It is a particularly scenic route if you are going from Mount Rushmore to Custer State Park.

  1. You think that is harrowing, wait until you see the Needles Highway pictures.

A road the width of McHose Park. On one side is a mountain. The other side is a 1000 foot to your death. No railing.

The tunnel you drive through on that one is called the Eye of the Needle. It is a fitting name.

  2. I maaaaaaaay skip those pictures. Maybe do me a favor and title your blog entry for those something to the tune of, “Photos of Your Impending Death” or something?
