Even More of a Foggy Morn on the Trail

Time for the final collection of images I took on a foggy January morning out walking the High Trestle Trail. What is different about many of the pictures from this collection from the ones in the previous collections is that many of these are taken with a telephoto lens. The reason for this is, that the longer a lens, the more compressed the background and foreground become. I wanted the effect of the bars across the bridge to be practically on top of one another. I don’t want to break my arm slapping myself on the back, but I was pretty pleased with the results.

As you know, I don’t do a very good job planning for the Iowa State Fair Photo Salon, but next year’s special theme class is “Leading Lines” and I would consider one of these pictures for an entry, if I remember they exist around the time the State Fair comes along. I’d also consider the Boone High Parking lot from Tuesday’s post as well. Although I have this believe that the photo judges don’t like drone pictures. But with all opinions on judges, they are just beliefs.

Here is the final collection:

This wasn’t the last time I went to the High Trestle Trail Bridge this year. And I’m sure there are at least a couple more trips before this year is over. It is truly one of the most magical places in Iowa to visit.

  1. Welp, the one in the header is it. These are all fantastic; it is sublime.

I know I am not going to talk you into a spreadsheet, but do you use a notes app where you could record these? Please don’t forget them.

  2. I use nothing, but my own fault memory. But I have been considering keeping a folder with images in it. That is more my style. Works better with my brain.

Did I ever tell you that I do actually use a spreadsheet to track a gambling ring I run at the computer mine? I didn’t write the spreadsheet though. Dan did, but I am ACTUALLY thankful for it.

  3. Do you ever use Lightroom for editing, or only Photoshop? I tend to flag my photos I really like, or rate them, and then just filter to that when looking for state fair photos. It’s easy in-flow, and less hassle!

I am so proud of you for keeping a documented, paper record of your nefarious dealings! It’s honestly the best to just have resources like that available to do the math.

  4. Yeah, I don’t do things the way they probably should be done, but I pretty much never use Lightroom. I literally only use it to import photos. If there is an easy way to do things, I seem to do the opposite.

I know I should use Lightroom a lot more than I do. At least for images I don’t care so much about.

  5. I am the opposite; I so rarely use Photoshop just because it’s got so much that I don’t use. I should use it as more of a default!
