FINDER’S CREDIT: I have to give credit to Shannon for alerting me to the existence of this restaurant. We almost ate there on the day she helped me harvest the town signs of Warren County. But we did not. So thank you Shannon.
Last Sunday I indicated that the next food adventure I would share would involve RVTV, but after culling the images and going over the data, I don’t think I can properly encapsulate that food adventure. So instead I’m going to move on to my trip to The Chicken I made with Teresa after church one Sunday.
Here are the pictures:

The Southwestern Egg Rolls were $12. This is how they are described on the menu:
Pulled chicken, black beans, corn, chipotle peppers, and southwestern rice, rolled and fried. Served with a chipotle ranch dipping sauce.
They were absolutely fantastic and I will be putting them in my belly again in the future.
The Nashville Hot Boneless Fried Chicken was $15, but I paid more to substitute onion rings for the fries. This is how they are described on the menu:
Pulled chicken, black beans, corn, chipotle peppers, and southwestern rice, rolled and fried. Served with a chipotle ranch dipping sauce.
There is no hiding it. This entire meal was incredible! It was one of my favorite meals I’ve had all year! I should do a power ranking of the best meals I’ve had this year. But that seems like a ton of work. Not gonna happen. Maybe it will happen. Either way, I will definitely be going back to The Chicken in the future. May be it will be my new post airport crush. Nah! Gotta stick with Ted’s Coney Island.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t point out that the onion rings were fantastic!
You can find The Chicken located here:
4221 Southeast Orilla Road
West Des Moines, Iowa
It is open:
Monday – Thursday: 11 AM – 9 PM
Friday-Saturday: 11 AM – 10 PM
Sunday: 8 AM – 9 PM
Next Sunday’s food adventure will involve an Art in the Park meal I more or less shared with Logan.
