Back shortly before Halloween I made an early morning to trip to try a relatively new donut shop in Polk City that is unique to our area. Duck Donuts. What makes Duck Donuts unique is that their donuts are made to order! Duck Donuts is actually a franchise and they can be found all over the country from California to dumpster fire states like Florida. But the one in Polk City is the only one in Iowa. As far as I know, it is the only made to order donut shop in Iowa. But don’t take that to the bank. That check might bounce like a rubber duck.

I went with the Spooky Box since it was close to Halloween and I got a breakfast sandwich because I didn’t want to eat only straight sugar for breakfast.

The verdict?
I’ll definitely be making many a special trip to Duck Donuts for donuts. Not for the breakfast sandwich which was okay, but about what you would expect from a place that really specializes in donuts.
Because they are made to order, you need to budget some time when you go there. You can’t just swoop in and pick up a dozen sinkers and be back on the road in a few minutes. You can order online ahead of time though. If you are technologically proficient.
