Good news! No, great news! I have finished updating another page on the website! WooHoo! The Calendar page is now changed and ready for mass viewing.
The Calendar page is a great resource for 2 things. First, it is where the digital Photography 139 Calendar resides. This is a great resource if you don’t know what this week’s THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE theme is. You will find it on the calendar.
Also, new to the Calendar page is a history of the physical Photography 139 Calendar. A brief write-up on when it was born. What different iterations has it went through. Plus, there is a slideshow of every image that has ever been included in the physical Photography 139 Calendar.

Thanks once again for Elizabeth proofreading the page for me.
A few weeks back I went up to Clear Lake for their annual Color the Wind kite festival. The roads were sus at best so I wasn’t sure I would make it up there. I planned on getting lunch from a food truck up there because I knew I didn’t have much time to get there, check out some sweet kites, grab a bite to eat and then get back home to watch the Iowa State men’s basketball game. I went up there a couple of years before and there were a handful of food trucks. This time though, there were only 2 and both served only dessert type food. I got in line for the churro food truck and decided I’d have to hit a drive-thru on the way home for the balance of my midday meal. I believe many people call it lunch.
Here are some pictures of my trip to eat at Mami Churros food truck.

While it was a little bit of a disappointment that there were only dessert food trucks I understand why. I’m sure they are trying to get people to eat at the local restaurants. Which I would have done if I had more time. The churro was excellent.
THE GOOD
- I got the Dulce de Leche churro. It was delicious.
- It was warm and fresh and hit the spot on a cold day.
- Service was fast.
THE BAD
- It was a little pricey, but food truck prices and let’s face it, all food is starting to get crazy expensive now.
THE UGLY
- The apple cider was up there with the worst drinks I’ve had in my life. Pretty sure it was a mix, but bad either way.
THE DAMAGE
- For 1 churro, 1 apple cider, with tax, I probably left a tip, it was $15.85. A bit much.
THE VERDICT
- Would I eat there again? Sure, but I wouldn’t search them out. I definitely would not get a drink there.
HOW YOU EAT THERE
- I don’t know. They are a food truck. Drive around looking for them.
Next Sunday’s food adventure will either involve gluten free food OR I might start on my Austin food adventures. I bet you will be on the edge of your seat until then!
