Let me step outside myself
Will you try to hold my hand?
What if I told you
When the smoke clears
You’re the only one who can?
I know I’ve tried you
Defied and denied you
Thrown punches in the air
Closed my eyes and count to ten
Praying you’d still be standing thereHang in there, darling, won’t you?
The best is yet to come
We have shut this city down
Too many times to cut and run
But if there’s still gold in those hills
I owe it all to you
I thank my lucky stars that I’ve got someonе to
Someone to belong toYour voice is ringing in my mind
You are tattooed on my soul
From the never-ending highway
To the strings of my piano
What if I hold you like a liar?
I’ve been broken and it shows
But even the water catches fire
Even the moon is full of holesHang in there, darling, won’t you?

Obviously when Brandi Carlile and Elton John’s album showed up on my front porch last Friday it was a glorious day and perhaps the best New to Me Vinyl Friday to date!
But Thursdays are for flowers and this flowertography session took place at the Iowa State Fair.

Next Thursday’s flowertography session will also involve flowers from the Iowa State Fair.
