If Day 4 was my favorite day in Philly and Day 5 was my least favorite, the Day 6 was near the top. It was the last full day in Philadelphia and I did have to work, but it wasn’t exactly a full work day. Even though I think I probably was technically on the clock for close to 10 hours that day. I’m not looking it up. I don’t care that much, so I can’t imagine how little you care.
I enjoy because I can look forward to being home soon. I like to travel, but I do miss Bokeh. Probably miss some of you to a lesser degree as well. If I’m pressed to confess it. After close to a week, it is time to go home. And the last full day of travel for work ends with what has become one of my favorite traditions. A meal with the people who really make the Computer Mine’s Convention go. The blue collar to no collar types like Me, Lowell, Kim, and Tony. We are the first to get there. The last to leave. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As I started Day 6, this is what was left in my per diem fund:
$343.49
Here are the pictures from Day 6 of my work trip to Philadelphia:

Kim celebrated her 33rd year of planning our little segment of The Big Meeting.

Someday I hope to be as loved as Kim, but goals should be realistic and attainable.

It was the only day of the meeting where I got a chance to get away for lunch. So I bopped on over to the Reading Terminal.

I actually didn’t intend to have a 4th cheesesteak on this trip. But Uncle Gus’ had the fastest line, so it was the obvious choice.

But this time I decided not to get it how the locals eat it. I decided to get it how it should be made.

With real cheese (not wiz) and with onions and mushrooms!

I found a table outside and had a peaceful lunch.

All sorts of delicious!

Unfortunately they had gross Coke products to drink.

This was my favorite cheesesteak of the trip.

Waiting for our crates!

Crates!

On the way back to the hotel I stopped to grab some ice cream!

Our traditional meal was at a place called Top Tomato.

Back in Iowa all of this crust would go back home for Bokeh.

My observations:
- Gus’s was the best cheesesteak I had on this trip. But that was because I had cooper thick on it and mushrooms and onions. The way God intended cheesesteaks to be eaten. If I ever make it back to Philadelphia, this is how I will order my cheesesteaks. I tried it with the wiz. It is perfectly fine with the wiz. But it is a superior sandwich with cooper thick. It needs to be have mushrooms and onions.
- The cost of a Gus cheesesteak with mushrooms and a bottle of Sprite was $27.60.
- My ice cream cone from Bassett’s was also delicious. But you know I have the Ted Lasso policy on ice cream. “It is like seeing Billy Joel in concert. It never disappoints.”
- The cost of one waffle cone was $9.20.
- I started at Top Tomato with an appetizer I fried zucchini sticks. They were delicious and they ran $10.
- Then I got a personal The Works pizza. It had pepperoni, sausage, bacon, mushrooms, green peppers, and black olives. It was a perfectly acceptable pizza. I don’t know I’d be a regular if it was around here, but I’d go every now and then.
- The damage for the meal from Top Tomato with tip was $40.00
After Day 6, the following was left in the Per Diem Fund:
$266.69
Would that be enough money to last the trip home? We will find out next Sunday with the final culinary chapter of my Philadelphia trip.
