A reminder that if you are looking for a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, the Boone First United Methodist Church is hosting one. And it’s free! All the information you need to know is below:

With turkey prices up 25% this year and the average Thanksgiving meal up 4.1%, there will be a lot of people that will be making tough choices this year about what to put on their table this year. If they are able to put anything on it at all. If you or anybody you know is feeling any form of food insecurity, please pass this message on. We are expecting around 750 people this year. But there is food for plenty more. Fishes and loaves, amirite?
But even if you have enough loose coin rattling around in your purse, but just don’t want to make a meal or don’t have anybody to eat with, come on down! You can sit with us! I still have the Youth Group shirt that says that and the message hasn’t changed.
I’ll be down there “helping” in my way. Most of tomorrow and a good portion of Thursday. There will be a lot of friendly faces there, but that will also include mine!
But after Thanksgiving food insecurity won’t just up and disappear. Remember your local food banks. In Boone that can be places like IMPACT or the Toreador Pantry or the Hope Foundation to all the little pantries I see scattered all over town. The average price of an eat at home meal went up 2.7% in just September alone! It doesn’t look like that trend will be reversed any time soon.
One last thing, the weather is about to get cold. If you, or somebody you love, or somebody you vaguely tolerate (just cause you don’t love them, doesn’t mean God doesn’t) is in need of hats or gloves for the coming winter, send them to Boone First United Methodist Church. We have a whole ministry dedicated to providing such things for those in need.
Time to share another collection of pictures from the pro-democracy Mutual Aid Rally. This rally took place back in April and at that time one of the extremely evil things this regime was doing was called DOGE. It already no longer exists and will go down as one of the biggest failures in history.
DOGE was “designed” (stated goal but actual goal was way more nefarious which was to give all of your personal information to a handful of oligarchs) to save government money and find government fraud. It in its brief existence it found zero fraud. ZERO FRAUD! Cut next to no money from the federal budget and probably cost more money to run than it “saved”.
But what little results it got were disastrous. 290,000 jobs lost. Billions in tax revenue will be lost because of DOGE cuts. But absolutely the worst and most evil thing tied to DOGE is the death of an estimated 600,000 people worldwide because of the termination of USAID. DOGE lasted 10 months. And in that time averaged killing 60,000 people a month. Here is the thing… that number will just continue to grow. Here is the most evil part. And yes, there are degrees in evil in this… 400,000 of them are children. So DOGE killed an average of 40,000 children for each month it existed AND that number will continue to grow..
Here is the 2nd collection from the Mutual Aid Rally.
There are still many more pictures from this pro-democracy rally left to share!
