Back in November I did a little bit of a loop around some central Iowa parks looking for animals to photograph for the THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE theme ANIMALS. I took Bokeh to the dog park. But after taking her home I went to Big Creek State Park, Jester Park, and Saylorville Spillway. Then on my way back to Boone I drove through Ledges State Park.
But there can only be one submission for the THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. This is a collection of the images that didn’t make the cut. These images were taken at the dog park, Big Creek State Park, and Ledges State Park.
Photographing birds is always tricky. They are a cowardly animal so trying to get close enough to them without spooking them into flying away is a big part of the challenge. Which is why places with bird blinds are amazing. I don’t have my own bird blind, but I don’t know if I’m a patient enough person to get hardcore into birdtography. Being in November and the weather was spitting rain that turned into snow, the lighting was probably the worst possible to take pictures of birds, since it really requires a long lens, due to the cowardly nature of birds. It is a brutal combination, but I think I got some decent pictures. There is still one more collection of ANIMALS left to share.
