We’ve covered all the images I took of RAGBRAI in Winterset. Now it is time to start the images I took while following RAGBRAI briefly through 4 different towns. The first of those towns is Saint Charles. If you’ve ever even heard of Saint Charles, that is because it hosts Hinterland. Probably the best music festival in Iowa. A festival that once hosted the great Brandi Carlile, but has also had a knack for booking artists before they hit it big. Some of the artists that have graced their stage include Hozier, Vampire Weekend, Noah Kahan, Bon Iver, Zach Bryan, Maggie Rogers, Chapell Roan, Nathaniel Rateliff, Leon Bridges, Tyler Childers, The Avett Brothers, Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Willie Nelson, and Turnpike Troubadours. That is just to name a few. This year the lineup includes Tyler, The Creator, Kacey Musgraves, and Lana Del Rey.
But I don’t have any pictures of Hinterland. I’ve sadly only been once. And it was about 112 degrees that day. But I got to see Brandi Carlile play, so no regrets.
Here are some pictures from Saint Charles:

I think Saint Charles did a very nice job with RAGBRAI. Next time we check in with RAGBRAI I’ll share pictures I took in Saint Marys.
Love me some St. Charles. A and I went and hung out at an absolutely adorable coffee shop while awaiting Vampire Weekend this past summer – I think it may be in the background of your fourth photo from the bottom. She and I are going to Tyler. The Creator this summer, if you head that direction!
I actually am likely just as excited for Remi Wolf as I am for Tyler. I freaking love her.
I’d love to hit the other days, but we only have so much bandwidth that weekend.
One of my major goals of 2025 is starting to go to concerts again. I don’t think I’m going to make it to Hinterland though. There are some acts I like but nobody that really moves the needle for me that much. I have a Jason Isbell concert in Sioux City and a The Swell Season in Minneapolis circled though. Doesn’t mean I’ll pull the trigger, but circled. Well, the The Swell Season concert is pretty much a done deal. I just need to order the tickets.
Those will both be amazing concerts! And totally manageable drives. I am SO wanting to go to the Omaha show for Alabama Shakes, but the timing is super-crummy.
