Back on May 15, Nader and I hit up 515 Day in Ames to check out the annual Food Truck Showdown. I have to admit that at this point it was kind of slim pickings to find a food truck that I haven’t tried in this area. At least that showed up at the Showdown.
I did find one though named Karam’s Grill. I have seen it several times but never tried it. But I thought I would give their gyro bowl the onceover.
Here are a few pictures from this showdown:

Gyro Bowl – $15. Cheap.

The last bites.

As a noted baklava fiend, you know what your boy had to get for a dessert!

So much goodness in such a small package!

The verdict?
Yes, I would definitely seek out Karam’s Grill again. I don’t know if I saw them parked on the side of the road I would make a special trip to stop. But if I ran into them at another festival I would definitely not turn my nose up at them. Especially if I was looking for a healthier option. A healthier option as it relates to eating at a food truck, which is generally very unhealthy. But delicious. which is why we love them so…
The gyro bowl definitely was tasty! It was not the best baklava I’ve ever had, but don’t know there is such a thing as bad baklava.
Next Sunday’s food adventure will involve Orange City.
