Here is a collection of pictures that didn’t make the cut for RUINS in the WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE.

One of the reasons these photos ended up on the loser pile is because I had already used an abandoned train bridge (on the same abandoned right-of-way) in my WATER picture. While it is a different bridge, I didn’t want to draw water from too similar of a well.
I really like the negative space in these, they’re really cool.
Where did you take these photos?
Angie, I like to think of it as positive space, because I’m an optimist.
Shannon, there is a trail in Boone that follows the old C&NW right-of-way that connects College Street and McHose Park. Back in “the day” it was called the Daniel Boone Trail when it was a little more than a dirt path. However, several years back they widened, flattened, and paved it. It goes all the way to Mamie Eisenhower now and has a little park at its trailhead.
It runs just west of Linwood Cemetery. That is where this old bridge and stream are at. There is another abandoned bridge of much smaller size buried in the backside of McHose. That is where I took my water picture.
I can show it to you at some point, if you wish. The good thing is that I don’t need to tell you my rules about practical shoes!
I would love to go! And I promise to wear practical shoes – especially since I know what the destination is…
Then we will have to get it on the calendar at some point.
