One of my favorite places to visit at the Iowa State Fair is Pioneer Hall. I freely confess that part of this is nostalgia based on the fact that in my youth we spent much time in Pioneer Hall with my parents.
This reminds me that if you are going to the State Fair this year, for they have changed the food policy. Outside food and drink is allowed in the fair this year. This was a subject of discussion with me and Teresa and Carla recently. Teresa asked if I remember that when we went to the State Fair as kids, at a certain point Mom would take us out to the parking lot to the car and we would eat a meal that she had packed for us.
I don’t really have a strong memory of this, but I wish I did. All of that being said, I will not be packing my food into the State Fair this year. But I’m not above bringing in my own drinks.
