Time to clear out the backlog again. This is a collection of pictures I took between September and December of last year. They are decent pictures, but never really or never will fit into an “Artist’s Notebook” post. Some are from downtown Boone. Some are from Iowa State basketball. Some are of Bokeh. Some… you will just have to see for yourself.
Gaze upon this collection of rejects!
It is a little bittersweet looking at the pictures of the Iowa State’s women’s basketball team from last year. Pretty much the entire team left. Some looking to make fat stacks of cash. Some for better playing time. Some for a better role on a team. Only 3 players return from last year’s team. Some of the greatest Cyclones every were on that team. So it is sad to see them go. But on the other hand, I don’t know if we’ve ever had a team that underachieved as much.
This year’s team doesn’t have half the talent of the team from last year. They have 1/10th the expectations. Yet somehow I think they will end up exactly the same as last year’s team. Only this time it will be overachieving rather than underachieving. Somehow that will feel much better.
Even with the lack of expectations, I can’t wait to see A.J. (the lone returner that was a starter) and the new women take the court for the first time on October 28th in an exhibition and in a game that counts on November 2.
Until then, it always feels good clean up some of the old backlog.
