As you know, I enjoy buying photography toys. Often not useful. But sometimes just fun to play with. Which if you aren’t getting any joy out of photography, you are doing it wrong. I bought an entirely plastic toy camera for about 10 bucks early in the year, but that one goes down to the not useful category. It was a little fun to play with, but the battery life on that thing is something like, completely nonexistent. Maybe someday I will share pictures from that camera, but today is not that day.
Today is the day I share pictures I’ve taken with a more recent toy camera I purchased. It is designed to look like an old twins reflex camera. So on the outside it has a bit of an aesthetic that I like. The controls work roughly like an old twins reflex camera. It has a winder on the side that you can use to take video and you have to stare down at the viewfinder as it is located on the top of the camera. And the quality of the images are very serviceable.
Here is a collection of some of the images I’ve taken with it. A few of these are taken by Jeremy at the annual Howard Family Photo Shoot.
If you are struggling to figure out what this camera looks like, don’t worry, I’ll feed you baby birds. Take a gander:
It is a fun little gadget to crack out now and again. If you ask nicely, I might let you play with it some day. But you have to ask nice.

Wow! That is really cool – and you are right, it definitely is serviceable. It does best in lots of direct light, it seems – are there any adjustments you can make to ISO, shutter speed, aperture?
