A reminder that if you are looking for a Thanksgiving meal on Thursday, the Boone First United Methodist Church is hosting one. And it’s free! All the information you need to know is below:

With turkey prices up 25% this year and the average Thanksgiving meal up 4.1%, there will be a lot of people that will be making tough choices this year about what to put on their table this year. If they are able to put anything on it at all. If you or anybody you know is feeling any form of food insecurity, please pass this message on. We are expecting around 750 people this year. But there is food for plenty more. Fishes and loaves, amirite?
But even if you have enough loose coin rattling around in your purse, but just don’t want to make a meal or don’t have anybody to eat with, come on down! You can sit with us! I still have the Youth Group shirt that says that and the message hasn’t changed.
I’ll be down there “helping” in my way. Most of tomorrow and a good portion of Thursday. There will be a lot of friendly faces there, but that will also include mine!
But after Thanksgiving food insecurity won’t just up and disappear. Remember your local food banks. In Boone that can be places like IMPACT or the Toreador Pantry or the Hope Foundation to all the little pantries I see scattered all over town. The average price of an eat at home meal went up 2.7% in just September alone! It doesn’t look like that trend will be reversed any time soon.
One last thing, the weather is about to get cold. If you, or somebody you love, or somebody you vaguely tolerate (just cause you don’t love them, doesn’t mean God doesn’t) is in need of hats or gloves for the coming winter, send them to Boone First United Methodist Church. We have a whole ministry dedicated to providing such things for those in need.
Time to clean out some backlog. These images are from February of this year! They never really fit into previous posts or were alternate images for THE WEEKLY PHOTO CHALLENGE. Some are of Bokeh and some are of family. Some are failed attempts at my “Happy Valentine’s Day” image.
Have a look!
Now we march on to making sure all of the March images have been shared!
