We made it! We finally have gotten to the food adventure where Jesse got injured. This was a bucket list item for me this year and one of only a couple I actually managed to do. One was the Decorah pizza farm. Another was Stroud’s Chicken. Then there was this one. Bluff Lake Catfish Farm near Maquoketa. A place I’ve wanted to eat at since Jay, Willy, and I stumbled across it on a trip to Maquoketa Caves several years back.
Here are the pictures:

On the road!

1st Stop was Eden Valley a park Jesse has some familial connection to.

Finally made it to Bluff Lake!

Coke glass, but a Pepsi in it, so that is a win!

Tartar Sauce.

Some tasty coleslaw.

Fish! All you can eat goodness!

The fish was so good and once again, it was all you can eat!

This really was some of the best coleslaw in my life. And I had plenty of it, since Jay refused to even try it. His loss!

Hard to beat the view!

That was it? For all that field. I felt like I was robbing the place!

After dinner I wandered around the grounds with the real camera. When I came out of the woods, I saw the picture below.

Jesse had fallen down. And injured his foot.

Luckily nearby was a medical professional of some kind who did some mental exercises with Jesse to help ease his pain.

One last selfie with the fallen.

On the way back to Boone, we stopped at Parlor City. An ice cream parlor near where Willy was living in Cedar Rapids.

Ice cream! It never disappoints!

Time for an ice cream selfie!

We dropped Willy off at home and then headed back to Boone so Kelly could take Jesse to the ER since he refused to go with us.
But was it any good? Yes! I definitely would like to make a trip to Bluff Lake Catfish Farm an annual tradition. Hopefully next year Jesse can make it in and outside of the restaurant and back to the car without a major injury!
Next week’s food adventure will involve the Iowa State Fair!
