Time to share the cell phone pictures from Day 3 of the Route 66 Road Trip – Phase 1.
We started the morning at the Meramec Caverns Campground. It had rained all night. In the morning it was nice and cool. We had breakfast at the Meramec Caverns diner as we waited for the first caverns tour to start. I actually didn’t photograph my breakfast burrito. I’m as shocked as you are. It wasn’t anything special. Don’t worry, you aren’t missing anything. Also, they didn’t serve milk as a breakfast beverage option. I’ll never understand that.

On the tour of the Meramec Caverns.
It was around here that the tour guide came up to me and said, “They are watching you.”
I have absolutely no clue what he meant. No clue.
But nothing ever came of it.
The tour ends with a patriotic video in the theater room.
But maybe not as patriotic as going to a rodeo.
One of our first stops was the Wagon Wheel Motel. They told us to pull the RV up to the gas pumps for a fun picture!
The Wagon Wheel Motel is near Cuba, Missouri which has a bunch of fantastic murals!
I left another sticker in Fanning, Missouri on what at one time was the World’s Largest Rocking Chair.
Another stop was the Uranus Fudge Factory.
This is the World’s Largest Belt Buckle.
Left another sticker in the Funk Bus at Uranus. I left it near the sticker of my favorite travel vlogger and of course Godzilla.

Next stop was a neon park in St. Robert, Missouri.

I bet this sign looks amazing at night!
Another stop was at the Munger Moss Motel in Lebanon, Missouri.
Left another sticker there.
I met another Route 66 friend here. His name was John and he gave me a 2 CD set. 1 was a CD of his music. Every song about Route 66. The second CD was various artists, and every song was about Route 66.
We stopped for supper that night in Springfield, Missouri for supper at a restaurant Andy’s friend recommended.
The highlight of the meal was the fried okra.
That day the temperature had went up quite a bit. It would be consistently over 100 degrees the rest of the trip. The night we stayed at some high tone RV park called Beagle Bay. It had spa showers and a sauna in the restroom. Plus they had a pool and a game room and sometimes had concerts. It was probably the nicest or 2nd nicest shower I experienced on the trip.
Next Sunday I will share the cell phone images from Day 4 of the trip. Day 4 might have been my favorite day of the trip.
