Yesterday I completed yet another successful month of THE SELFIE PROJECT. I was surprised how packed a month it was. When I looked back at some of the images, I thought, “that happened in August? It feels like such a long time ago!”
Here are my favorites from August:
August 1, 2021
There can only be one Selfie per day, but I’ve decided to start sharing some alternate selfies from the month, that just didn’t make the cut:

Selfie Project – 2021
Hopefully September is another successful month!
1. Well, Gravity’s sign is going to win whatever county it’s in.
2. The astronaut Soldier Boulder (TM) is the best one yet.
3. I was curious how the caramel apple/shake/cider slush thing was when I saw it on a blog – I’m curious if it was too much or just right.
Yeah, no denying that Gravity has a badass sign.
Here is the weird thing about that astronaut rock. it is in Ringgold County next to the courthouse in Mount Ayr. It is not their Freedom Rock. Their Freedom Rock is located in Diagonal.
It is a tribute to an astronaut that is from the county. Peggy Whitson.
The caramel apple was too much and was a messy disaster. It was tasty, but I wouldn’t get it again. I had to wash my hands and beard in a nearby fountain. I only got it because they were out of the Atomic Strawberry Shortcake and I was too lazy to search out another stand for Dessert #1.
So it really is sort of an off-brand Freedom Rock? And honoring a female astronaut in an area that’s fairly rural? I respect it even more now – that would win any Boulder Showdown you might do.
I was afraid that it would be too much and too messy – and I’d wager that you’re far less messy than my barely-7-year-old. Although he doesn’t have a beard, so I guess there’s a tradeoff there. Maybe it’s an “end of the day and head straight for the shower” type of treat.
