RAGBRAI: Winterset Food Vendors

I like to try to hit at least one of the towns that RAGBRAI goes through every year. Fortunately for me, this year RAGBRAI was, well not close, but fairly close to me for a couple of days. 1 of the overnight stops was Winterset, which is one of my favorite towns in Iowa and isn’t much more than an hour from my front door.

On that night Jesse and I went down there to look around, people watch, enjoy some music, and eat some unhealthy food.

RAGBRAI is one of my favorite events to hang around, but not actually participate in. But maybe this is the year I get back in the bike game. I thought it would be last year, but it didn’t happen. Even if I got a bike, I wouldn’t be ready for RAGBRAI.

But if you are ready, they recently announced the route for this year recently.

Here are the overnight stops:
+ Orange City
+ Milford
+ Estherville
+ Forest City
+ Iowa Falls
+ Cedar Falls
+ Oelwein
+ Guttenberg

This year the route is 406 miles. The total climb is 10,487 feet.

None of those destinations are particularly close to me. I suppose this year I could go up and check out Iowa Falls and maybe follow the ride part of the way to Cedar Falls. The ride this year is from July 19-26.
