I shared some pictures from the Spirit Walk before the Iowa State-Texas Tech football game on Tuesday. Now I want to reveal images from what is my favorite Iowa State gameday tradition, the Step Show.
Before every games the ISUCFVMB (Iowa State University Cyclone Varsity Band) stands on the steps of the Alumni Center and have a little pep rally. They play through the large catalog of Iowa State fight songs and they also give a preview of this day’s halftime show.
I’m a big fan of marching bands, and in particular, a big fan of the ISCFVMB. They add so much to the environment and pageantry of a college game experience that makes it a thousand times better than going to an NFL game. It also helps that at the games, I sit in a big marching band section. The people to our north are the family of one of the drum majors. And another person that sits next to us is a former member of the ISUCFVMB.
Here are some pictures from the show:

There are 181 pictures from the Step Show before the Texas Tech game in the gallery of images of pictures taken related to Iowa State’s 2024 football season. I feel like I did a fair job of trimming those down for this post. I’m already getting pumped for the 2025 season which opens against Kansas State in Ireland in less than 4 months!
Yep, these are State Fair worthy!
