Ledges Centennial: Rambling

After dropping Jay off to do Jay type things I went back out to the Ledges Centennial to check out the other festivities. There were several musical acts performing, plus food trucks, and a carnival of some kind.

Here is the first collection of images from my afternoon trip out to the Ledges Centennial:

The band in these photos are the Weary Ramblers. They were a revelation. I was expecting good music out there, but they were definitely way better than I was expecting! Here is some information about them from their website:

Newly formed Iowa folk duo, Weary Ramblers bring years of experience to the stage with award-winning songwriting and chemistry. Chad Elliott and Kathryn Fox showcase multi-instrumental performances with tight harmonies and great storytelling.

Chad Elliott blends folk roots and soulful writing to deliver an original sound with over two decades of being on the road.. Elliott is lauded as “Iowa’s Renaissance man” by Culture Buzz Magazine. He has penned more than 1,500 songs in his career while also cultivating his skills as a painter, sculptor, illustrator and author. Elliott’s career demonstrates a love of folk, roots and singer-songwriter music. He has worked with and shared the stage with artists of the highest caliber, including Odetta, Tom Paxton, Loudon Wainwright III, Ruthie Foster, Greg Brown, Bo Ramsey, etc.

“The richness of Kathryn Fox’s upbringing resonate deeply within her music and lyrics, conveying an alluring sympatico with her audiences that few artists achieve.” – The Culture Buzz

Deemed “fiddler extraordinaire” in Cityview Magazine, Kathryn Fox is a DownBeat award winning artist. She played on the Grammy-nominated track “All My Tomorrows” with Kate McGarry. They are playing at the Iowa Arboretum concert series “Tunes in the Trees” on September 9. I think I’ll try to go check them out.

There are still plenty more pictures from the Centennial to share!
