Now it is time to begin sharing the collection of cruddy cell phone pictures of the trip home from Ireland to the Cyclone State. We got up in the morning and headed to the lumber yard/cafe and then headed to a grocery store to find a post office so that Andy could mail some postcards back home.
It was a fantastic grocery store, and I wish we would have found it earlier in the trip, rather than the way out the door. The returning of the rental car was not without adventure as the return location found difficult to find and after we got through airport security (where they removed every single item from my camera bag put none of it back in and just shoved it at me and said “You’ll have to put that back together”) and then through pre-clearance, we barely made our flight to Newark.
My single serving friend on the flight home was an Irishman that had immigrated to the United States and he gave me the news that the process of going through “pre-clearance” was actually customs. The fact that we didn’t need to go back through customs in New Jersey was like a soothing tonic. I was dreading going through customs and had not realized I had already passed through it.
It took us a minute in Newark to find the shuttle to hotel for the night, but after that we got settled and awaited Sarah and Tim to come pick us up and take us into the city. There was word that we would attend a baseball game, so I couldn’t take my real camera into the city. We didn’t end up attending a baseball game, so it ended up being a wasted opportunity. Oh well… I’m sure I will find an excuse to visit Sarah and Tim in the future and we can make it back to the city for the millions of photographic opportunities that lie within.
Here is the collection of images:

The bread in Ireland is so good!

The meat, not so much.

We got the Nepo Pie, the Funghi, and the Hell Pie.

I think you can tell my Andy’s look, that he was not a big fan of “subway pizza”. Or he’s drunk. But he doesn’t drink. So..

See No Evil had some sweet decor!

Good advice.

I did love me some See No Evil Pizza. Particularly the Hell Pie.

The Leica Gallery in NYC is kind of a bucket list place for photographers. It wasn’t open, but still seeing it was pretty cool and unexpected. Now Leica isn’t a brand for real photographers, but more a brand for douchebags that want their picture taken with a 10,000 dollar camera that they never use. But other than being props in Instagram posts for rich people, Leica has played an important part in the history of photography.

A Lady Gaga concert had just gotten over behind us.

Andy, not liking the earlier pizza, sought out one that was more to his liking.

So Travel Home Day 1 was like a 30+ hour day. There is only one (considerably smaller) collection of images left to share from the trip home. And then we might get back to regular tenderloining posts!
