When we last visited the collection of images from Day 1 of my trip to Philadelphia, Lowell and I had just left the Independence Hall area. In this collection we will go by the cemetery where Benjamin Franklin is buried on our way to Chinatown.
Here are the pictures:
If you haven’t figured out yet, I love to take pictures of the remains on public telephones. Still quite a few more pictures left to share from the first day in Philadelphia.

They need to include Ben Franklin getting gout and maybe syphilis in there, for good measure.
I love the telephone photos! And Chinatown. And I love the tattoo parlor.
Syphilis was just the price of doing business for any good Diplomat back then.
Good thing for you, there are a few more Chinatown photos left. I’m sad to say I didn’t make it back there. And I believe a few more phone photos. I really love the phone where the receiver is still there, but the piece has been broken off.
I love old technology that has fallen into disrepair. It’s sort of like the UK call boxes – they’re so iconic, but who is using a phone booth anymore, unless you’re a time-travelling doctor?
I also love old cigarette vending machines and similar. I assume eventually ATMs and (hopefully) separate men’s/women’s restrooms will be on this list.
